if I were the PM first thing i would have done is
setting up a squad, which will work independently, without the interference of anybody. It can work on its own. No arrest required, no warrants, nothing is required. just remove the terrorism in any of the way you want. No one will interfere. The contact person for the squad will be direct PM. there should be rule not to keep the terrorists, if possible get the required information out of them and kill them immediately...

Terrorism is rare, but it exposes the weakness in the system. More people die of Flu month than the amount of people who had died in terrorist attacks till date.
One thing in the recent attacks in Mumbai was exposed is that the cops guarding CST were short of RIFLES? Comeon ... Shortage of Arms is the worst thing... Also revealed was that Mumbai Police has also delayed licenses to several guards. Also the local police uses Rifles and Pistols, where as the terrorists use AK-47 ...
If I were the PM, I would make extra efforts to ensure that the different departments like the IB, Navy, Army, Local Police, ATS all work in SYNC. Instead of adding new agencies, ensuring that all of them work together without any ego or bureaucracy.

Its very easy to comment but there are many fields which need simultaneous attention like financial crisis, domestic wars on religion and terrorist infiltration. I would have taken time to time updated information about each sector and try to be in sync with dapartments like RAW, ATF etc

onlygeek it would not have fueled gunda raj, in fact it would have cleared gunda raj. when there was a good ATS before 1993, gunda raj became very less, it was just because ATS was on no arrest.....

Nahi baba, you need to have accountability and proper law and order. Who will decide is what they did was right or wrong? There has to be proper trial ... IF the system is good even that will become easy.
Also @above ... declaring war on pakistan will eat more resources.. and why blame Pakistan? there are good and bad ppl everywhere
