If businesspeople should take art more seriously, artists too
should take business more seriously.
The debate of business being an art of science continues now. What do you guys think all those are directly or indirectly linked to management world, what is it ? Would love to get your comments!
To give an example I would to share a comment that I came across while researching on this content. The comment says “Of course it is an art. My mother is a production control manager with a large company. Perhaps being a woman in a traditionally male role has something to do with it as well, but I see her masterfully balancing people and business in her daily life. She is constantly listening to what makes people happy and using that information as a manager to get the best out of her people all the while producing the highest quality and quantity of materials needed to make the engines her company produces. She is highly knowledgeable of every job in the plant and how those jobs work together. She is highly knowledgeable of the parts they produce and how each part works separately as well as together in order to make the best engine possible. Balancing all this is more than a science. It is an art. Anytime unpredictable people are involved, it is an art.” Hence the comment purely supports the favor of business being an art and not a science.
Like the above comment says it’s an art because the job profile of production manager initially we think is basically for men, but that women has proved people wrong. She balances her personal as well as the professional life very well. She has got the knowledge of the work she is doing and has no doubt over it. Managing the work with all the details of the job and managing the coworkers as well for a women its tough but she has managed it well.
More than it being a science or an art, one should have an eye on the quality of management should be of good quality, because that is what matters the most. Once you have flair in all the basic management functions like planning, organizing, implementing, staffing, controlling and directing the rest of the work flows in accordance with the previous functions. Managing people is not easy. However, it can be done successfully. And it can be a very rewarding experience. Remember that management, like any other skill, is something that you can improve at with study and practice. These are the basic functions of management that you will need to use to run a successful art business and manage your company effectively.
The relations that you develop and maintain at your workplace also come under management arena. You need to be keen about the roles that each roles that they play like the Interpersonal that involve coordination and interaction with employees, another being informational role that involve handling, sharing, and analyzing information, thirdly decisional role that require decision-making. Once you are perfect with the plan with who’s who and what the responsibility is for each and every person concerned. Once this gets cleared the decision making gets more clearly without many issues involved in the same. If you are the one to handle all you need to flair and efficiency in all that you have planned and thought that you will achieve.
