Australia vs Afghanistan
Pool A / Group A
Match 26
04 Mar 12:00 IST
W.A.C.A. Ground, Perth
The Match no 26 is between host country Australia and minnows Afghanistan at the Western Australian Cricket Association, Perth. This the thirteenth Pool A match. This will be Australia's fourth World Cup gathering match.
Australia play Afghanistan in the wake of confronting England, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Afghanistan has played Australia just once before this experience. Australia played Afghanistan at Sharjah in 2012 and the No 1 ODI group on the planet won by 66 runs.
Afghanistan is playing their initial 50-over World Cup. Driving the group is experienced Mohammad Nabi. Afghanistan have few senior players like Asghar Stanikzai, Dawlat Zadran, Nawroz Mangal and Shapoor Zadran, alongside Nabi, who have the experience of playing against stronger groups.
Then again, Australia is one of the most loved groups in the competition. Driven by Michael Clarke, Australia have a solid batting line-up as well as playing as well. On the top, there are batsmen like David Warner, Shane Watson, Clarke, Aaron Finch, George Bailey, Steven Smith and Glenn Maxwell.
The playing division will be initiated by Mitchell Johnson and will discover help from Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. James Faulkner, Xavier Doherty, Maxwell and Watson prove to be useful as all-rounders too in time of need. On paper, Australia are a much stronger group than Afghanistan.
