IBM asks recruiters for refund & Wipro fires employees for faking CVs

Dear All,

This is going to be serious issues in coming time if
recruiter / HR not doing proper reference check of
candidate before joining may be directly or
indirectly. Looking at the kind of incidents happeing,
believe me there is no ethics left in software
industry.

We are missing important part of recruitment &
selection in short run which is candidate reference
checking. It published in today ET that IBM has asked
recruiters for refund the money of those employee who
were found guilty of fudging their CVs which came
through consultancy.

Is IBM right in doing so or IBM supposed to do
reference check before candidate selected or joined?

Does HR / Recruiter need to be proactive or industry
need to be proactive?

NASSCOM has been talking about IT / ITES employee code
since last couple of years which will give entire
history of candidate but nothing has been materialised
so far.

Would like to know the feedback of others!!!!

In such a case the employee code is the most appropriate solution.....bt tat wil tke another decade 2 materialise in India.......bt till then wat r d cos supposed 2 do....succumb 2 d unethical ways of recruiters or hve their own safeguards against the defaulting grps. Well, the latter option wud b better.....cos cant afford 2 remain ignorant for 6-7 mnths n then claim a refund......there shud be a process wherein d co performs its own credibilty chk of the employees CVs, as a measure 2 avoid such situations.
