How Would You Define Your Tagline ?

W[/i]ere you tagged by a common line with what everyone summoned you in college? It was fun at college and everyone had such unique names and tag lines dedicated to them as per their personalities. And even after years after college when your oldie friends call you by the same name and the tag line makes you feel astonished right and see the impact the tag lines have for you. Popularity and remembrance for years, isn’t it? [/i]

A tagline is a succinct phrase, situated under or alongside your logo that communicates a single but powerful brand message designed to resonate strongly with an intended audience. It is not a proverb, maxim, saying, mission statement, or generic description of what your organization is and does.[/i]

Jumble up the page with a list of words or phrases that communicate your idea and that also tie to your logo or a visual you're using.[/i]

Use the list to generate new ideas.

"play" with the words by using tools like rhyming or alliteration.

Simplify& Rewrite.

DO

  • collect other company's taglines and analyze what works and what doesn't work.
  • start by developing a list of what's unique to what you do and your way of doing it.
  • your own mini-market research. Ask strangers if they understand your business after seeing and hearing your tagline.
  • use your specific target audience in your tagline, if possible.
  • keep it short.
  • turn the phrase around. If you can't say it without skipping a step, then rephrase it.

DON'T

  • use hip or esoteric taglines.
  • make your tagline too general.
