How was your CAT paper ?

Well, now that CAT 2006 (written) is finally over, i am sure that most of u would have done well and can now relax!!

However, for the others, it would be great if u can share your CAT experience. Let us know what u felt about the papers, which all sections were easy and which were tough.

Help us formulate some image of the paper by giving some insights about it.

Anyway, be positive about the results.

Hi all!!!

This time every classes and the so called analysts thought that they had cracked the CAT code and on that basis they made some predictions. One prediction common amongst most of them was the number of questions won't decrease. On the other hand it was expected to increase. But CAT is CAT. Shock is the most pivotal element of CAT. That is what makes CAT the 'mother of all entrance exams'

1 The number of questions decreased to 75.

2 Each question was of 4 marks and each worng answer cost u 1 mark. So each section was of 100 marks and since there were 3 sections, the CAT paper was of 300 marks

3 This time instead of 4 choices there were 5 choices for each question a la GMAT thus making ur life that much harder.

4 DI n QA were comparatively easier sections, however the shock of the day was the English section. To say that it was difficult is like insulting the VA section. VA was truly horrible and for the 1st time in d history of CAT, different classes are predicting VA cutoffs, which are lower than QA n DI cutoffs :fear: :fear:

Ab baaaki sab uparwaale ke upar hain....

IIMs always play tricks on you, but we can never say what exactly the paper pattern would be.

neways, the CAT paper this year was the easiest compared 2 previous years.
time management was not at all tested. thats wat i felt. coz we had enuf time 2 solve the paper. and the DI and QA sections were very easy. but as usual, the mistakes of wrong answering took place quite often in my paper. i felt that my 2 week preparation of CAT in the entire year was the reason for failure. some extra efforts in QA would have helped me get thru some good institute. i m getting a scor of 65 as per mp results.

neways, english killed every1. the toughest section of the paper. but still i managed to clear english cutoff's as per careeer launcher stats. maths section not cleared. coz i did not practice maths and that proved critical. neways, guys plz post ur scores.

my paper was horrible.. mainly cause of the fact that my bms exams came up.. and got no time to prepare myself..
