- Have a basic knowledge about your area of interest.
- Prepare well about the possible questionnaires.
- Do a little bit research on the subject matter before going on to a discussion.
- Be clear in your thoughts and communicate your point well.
- Avoid being harsh or imposing your point on some one. You may keep your point in front of others by giving it subsequent evidence but, can not tell others to believe it.
- Be strong in your voice yet polite in your execution of words.

One more tip for GD:

Don't ever try to dominate GD's. Be calm and try to listen every1 point of view and also allow others to speak. Its not that you have to speak alot. But whatever you say should be specific.

Tip 2:

Try to think over the topic before starting. Make 3-4 points of the topic and try to elaborate it and again i m saying be polite when you are expressing yourself.

Participate in Management Paradise's GD's and debate section and have practical knowledge about how to crack gds by discussing various topics...

:D :D

Tip 3:

Try to show your leadership skill during GD. If someone is not speaking then invite him politely or if someone is trying to control GD then politely stop him and request him to let other speak

A GD is a formal occasion where slang is to avoided.A GD is not a debating stage. Participants should confine themselves to expressing their viewpoints. In the second part of the discussion candidates can exercise their choice in agreeing, disagreeing or remaining neutral.Language use should be simple, direct and straight forward.Don't interrupt a speaker when the session is on. Try to score by increasing your size, not by cutting others short.

Tip 4:

During GD try to control your anger. Don't show your anger by your words, facial expression or any gesture expression. It may happen where things are going out of your control but you have to manage that situation.

Have you ever noticed by the help of this forum we are doing sort of GD only. So how well we are?? Tell me your opinions

Tip 5:

Have a proper eye contact to the person you are talking and don't hesitate to keep your point of view. Don't try to impose things to other. If you believe in something then you just have to say "its my point of view"

Tip 6:

If you don't have any idea of the given topic then wait and listen other members of the group and try to reframe their words in your own sentence and deliver it intelligently.

From my point of view the basic purpose of a group discussion is to examine your potential to suit yourself in the team and lead it in direction of achievement of its target. In order to gt success in GD, a candidate should be gentle enough to handle the over-talkative member. He/she should stay away from personal arguments.
