HOW SHOULD WE MANAGE STRESS

If you struggle with stress you aren't alone. Sixty percent of people say they experience stress at work on a regular basis. Two thirds say they have concern about the amount of stress in their life. More than half of people worry about the impact of stress on their health.

The good news is that even though you can't rid stress from your life completely, it is possible to experience stress relief and to flip it on like a switch. You have the power to automatically relax your mind and body. The ideal situation is to continually manage your stress so that it doesn't consume you and damage your body.

There's an stress-relief exercise I frequently use and I encourage you to try it out the next time you feel distracted by stress. Here are the 3 steps of this exercise:

1.) Focus your mind on the situation, person or action that is stressing you out. Breathe in and out through your nose as you think about this. Sometimes it can take a while to determine the exact source of your stress. It's important to take the time to uncover what it is that is causing the stress.

2.) Clench your fists tightly. Visualize everything that is stressing you out and, in your mind, bring that stress into your closed hands. Squeeze your hands as hard as you can without hurting yourself. Continue to visualize the stress flowing into your hands. Feel the stress in your hands and entire body as you clench your fists. Breathe quickly in and out as you do this.

3.) Say the word "cancel" out loud and then open your hands. Visualize the stress leaving your hands. Allow your body to relax and focus on something that makes you happy or could make you happy if you could experience it. Slow your breathing once again and continue in this relaxed state for a few minutes.

Do this exercise every day if you need to. It's an exercise you can do at work or at home. The more you can bring your mind and body back to a relaxed state, the easier it will be for you to spot new opportunities and possibilities for your life. People who manage their stress have fewer physical problems and fewer financial problems.

No offence to anyone but, thesedays many people talk about what you need to do when you are stressed....breathing, relaxing body muscles e.t.c

But, importantly, we have to talk about how to avoid stress. We have to think about what is causing stress and how to avoid it. In many a situations we stress out when going through the situations that we are unable to handle anymore. Now we have to think:

Why cannot we handle the situations anymore?

Lack of patience.
Mentality of giving up in the middle.
Lack of selfconfidence (lack of can-do mentality)
We need to tune ourselves according to the people and situation and have to bring changes in our way of doing things (but, final objective remains same)

Always, prevention is better than cure.

Great point put forward by you...that prevention is better thn cure...

But is it really possible in todays scenario...where everyone wants to succeed more thn the other...it is not lack of patience or giving up tht causes stress...stress is caused when we are not able to meet our expectations..so to lower down our stress levels we just cant lower down expectations tht we have frm ourselves...can we...??

And the problems like lack of patience,,,anger and other similar problems can be overcomed by these relaxing exercises..
Stress is what everyone has...it just the way a person handles it.....

Yes, the present day world is very competitive and everyone has to strive to meet their expectations (I have already mentioned this as a last point in ‘causes of stress’ in my first post). In these current situations a person can win only if he is persistent in putting complete efforts until he reaches the target (any aspect of life- social, financial, career, personal, work place e.t.c). During this process many people give-up or feel less confident when encountered by a trouble or problem and ‘Stress’ comes exactly at this point. Stress pulls us off the track of success. This is a great hinder in achieving the final objective. If one wants to be a winner in this competitive world they have to eliminate any Stress by thinking about its root cause. No one can add a second to his life by stressing and worrying. When we stress that means we are giving a chance for others to overtake us.

These stress relief exercises may act as oil to the wound but, cannot cure it. These exercises are physical only and no effect on morale of the affected person. If people have to do these exercises they will be keep on doing these throughout their life. Stress is reoccurring but one can put an end by developing an attitude and character of:
1. Self-confidence that overcomes any hinders and barriers.
2. Patience and perseverance.
3. Intelligent behaviour according to the situations.
People like Mahatma Gandhi, Abdul Kalam, Alexander the great, Bill Gates and many other great people have shown these characters that improves high degree of moral strength that makes no room for stress. Let all of us teach and provide permanent solution by letting people know that stress is a problem that adds to the an existing problem. Yes, Prevention is better than Cure and it was, is and will be possible for any scenarios to come.
