How can we evade Poverty in India?

by changing our priorities..........simple......

is our priority to buy rs. 1000 crore worth of submarines ( which we are never gonna use)

or to provide cheap credit facility to our farmers.

Poverty removal from India couldn't be done in a single shot - in a single month or year - it would take long time - through empowerment of public - through education, and yes, allocation and utilization of funds in a proper, accountable way. It cannot be done by the government alone - because now the population of our country has grown to an unmanageable level. There couldn't be a single, central solution to it. It would require participation from all - even those who are not affected by it. Not that a new law or floating new poverty tackling organizations need to be floated - existing ones - laws, as well as organization (Govt, NGO etc) are enough for it. Only thing needed is a will from all of us to work for it - to come forward to empower people - even if it means teaching a kid around who cannot to school. Help people -even if it means helping them to get some work done without bribes, or without payments to middlemen. Probably this could be one of the way to grow - slowly - into a more aware, and yes a rich one too, nation.

we can if we jus c d figures people under poverty line have come down from 60 percent in 1981 to 42 percent in 2005 and presently stable at 25% in 2008....

education helps to a large extent, employment opportunities 2 b improved......the govt waivers etc vil substantially reduce the poverty line.....

We can not make policies for obvious reasons but what i think is if all of us so called educated people can sponsor the education of even one poor child tehn we can make a difference.

Poverty is required to maintain balance in the system, though excess poverty is what we can try to reduce and contantly strive to acheive.
the reason i say is because is because recently in chattisgarh rice was being sold @ Rs.2/kg and labours there worked for few days and rested for all the month. The people who wanted maid, servants, labours could not find any.

We all talk about poverty in india. Now lets talk about how we as an individual or groups can contribute in evading poverty and making it a better place for all of us to live?

EDUCATION - it is the need of the time to make every one literate and by literate not only to read and write but also to gain knowledge and degrees..

The question comes with less fortunate families who cannot afford but that too can be taken care off by the government through its various schemes..

Poverty in India is a vicious circle as there is virtually no information with the poor about how to get rid of it. India today is a knowledge oriented economy and if my historical knowledge goes well than the knowledge revolution has been so far the most profound and most influencing factor when it comes to facilitating financial inclusion and alleviating income disparities. Therefore in my opinion poverty alleviation can be very well expedited through value creation in the villages and today with the advent of wireless techno its not that diff given that the ppl like us who have the resources think about it and have some individual social responsibilty. Forums such as Mp and Pg do certainly facilitate the cause when it comes to info that is related to high expertise degrees but there are not many sites that promote learning that is relevant to the poor and help them bridge this rich and poor intellectual divide. the govt has also been very lethargic when it comes to setting up wireless knowledge stations in d villages which in my opinion are gonna be much economical than setting up skools and then paying the irregular teachers.
What i wanna accentuate is that its not about making the poor graduates and postgraduates but more about telling them how they can actually get out of this seemingly impregnable problem of poverty and this is possible through knowledge which once there would stimulate their own creativity to attain what they deserve in life.

Sometimes the journey is more satisfying then the destination.

To evade poverty we should:

Encourage people towards education

Give a small part of income to NGO that support education to the poor

Use electricity & water sparingly? Save power

Use public transport rather than our own means...

According to me evading poverty is a difficult and a far distant dream but at the same time it is not impossible. It is of great importance that we the young generation of this country should work together with the same vision to eradicate poverty from our country.

Hi,

This is a nice topic. My opinion is if we need to eradicate poverty then we need to change our political structure. All the good policies are going down because of these power and money greedy politicians.

well i think the ROOT CAUSE OF POVERTY are us!!!

so each one should be responsible in thinking abt the society when we are doing some activity..example avoid wasting foods in parties and functions..just because we cld afford it,doesnt mean we could waste it right.this must be adapted to all causes right frm spending lavishly on all basic requirement.

BUT MORE THAN THAT WE NEED A PRO ACTIVE GOVERNING PEOPLE IN THE GOVERNMENT.THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD HAVE A REAL TIME MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR ALL KIND OF WORKS.

WE AND WE AS A CITIZEN SHOULD REALIZE THAT THERE IS PLENTY OF WORK WHICH IS ENOUGH TO FEED OURSELVES.TODAY THERE IS HEAVY SHORTAGE IF LABOUR IN ALL INDUSTRIES .KEEPING THIS IN MIND THE GOVT MUST TAKE STEPS TO MAKE THESE PPL WORK THR WHICH MUCH START WITH AGRO INDUSTRY..

AVOID GIVIN FREEBIES..BETTER PAY THEM THE RIGHT COST FOR THEIR PRODUCTS AND IN CASE OF LOSS SUPPORT THEM.WHAT DO WE GET WHEN WE FACE LOSS BUT WHEN WE PAY OUR SHARE OF PROFIT!

HIGH TIME WE THINK
GOVTS ARE READY TO BAILOUT BIG FRAUDS LIKE SATIYAM WHR HE CHEATED IN CRORES OF THOUSANDS AND THEY CANT ACT AGAINST HIM..

AVOID CORRUPTION!
AVOID GREEDINESS!
WORK RESPONSIBLY!
CARE FOR ENVIRONMENT!

will result in poverty free INDIA!

reduce corruption at all levels...
all government employees shud be shown the movie Nayak starring anil kapoor.... so that they can learn something from it...
