HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCE

Where do I even start with the criticism of Indian media? Just look at the stories they show in the name of news. Every minor happening in some small place is a breaking news and an exclusive story. And strangely at a single point of time all the news channels have different breaking news!!!

With 24 hour news channels, I had expected that we would get a great coverage of d happenings all over and we would get different views also. But look @ this example of Prince. I am very fine with them showing the news. No doubt it was a serious matter, but 24 hrs of just Prince. Just for the sake of TRPs, his accident was made into a reality show. And even today, there was some news abt some Bollywood stars meeting up with him. But in this melee, the media forgot that someone was responsible for the accident. They should have taken the responsible govt officials to task rather than showing 24 hrs reality Tv.

We are in such a bad state that a news like Raveena Tandon's dog being kidnapped becomes headlines. I hope that some sense prevails in the media sector and they start becoming more responsible.

i'm totally agree with shrijit, govt. neither do good nor media for ordinary people, it's dependson people to save themselves. govt. n media r just thinking abt them, they r veryy selfish, as they r doing it..to give prince rs. 200000, for public's appreciation and attention and media is doing for .......nothing but........TRPs....!!!

The entire country prayed for Prince’s safety, but aren’t such mishaps waiting to happen in a city where an open manhole is common place?

The pit was 60 feet deep and only 9 inches wide. If the media had not covered this event fervently, it wouldn’t have gotten all the attention it did. However, the media went berserk. The Chief Minister of Haryana went a step further and announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh. There was other news of equal importance, which got buried.
There are so many open manholes in the country; this incident should awaken the authorities.

However, I think the media overplayed this incident I also don’t think that this matter needed so much attention and media coverage. It’s a common sight to see people falling in open manholes, gutters and pits in India.
The whole episode shouldn’t have been exaggerated like this. I understand that people who helped Prince get out of that pit should be rewarded, but such a huge compensation for the boy? It is absurd.

The entire episode was blown out of proportion. It required the attention of media, but certainly not over two days. Prince has become hero overnight, thanks to The Electronic Media.
I hope kids don’t get influenced by this and try to do the same to get publicity. Those injured in the 7/11 blasts weren’t given that kind of compensation that this boy got. It’s a huge sum, and I’m sure the Chief minister of Haryana must have realized after announcing it.

It’s time that certain codes of conduct are levied on the media. It wasn’t necessary for news channels to focus so much on this particular issue.
However, I request the government to take steps to avoid such incidents in future.
