What is Grooming
It is the process of making yourself look neat and attractive. The things which you do to make yourself and your appearance tidy and pleasant.
Clothes and manners do not make the man; but, when he is made, they greatly improve his appearance
Whether this is real or imaginary the most important fact is that your appearance influences the opinions of everyone around you Your Professionalism, intelligence and the trust people form in you is mainly due to your appearance
Some of the perceptions people can form solely from your appearance are:
Your professionalism. Your level of sophistication. Your intelligence. Your credibility.
Personal Grooming habits
Grooming involves all the aspects of your body: Overall Cleanliness Hair. Nails. Teeth. Uniform MakeMake-up
Hair style : Female
It is your crowning glory. Keep it at a length and style at which you can maintain it. Wash your hair at least once a week. Hair longer than jaw line to be tied neatly into a bun & a plain black net to be tied around the same. U shaped black hair pins to be used to hold the bun tightly in place. NO ´ Fringe hair hairstyle will be permittedµ and forehead need to be clear. Only BLACK COLORED bands/ pins / clips to be used. Streaking or coloring of the hair is strictly not permitted. Dry or fly hair and small hair needs to be gelled back or pinned back neatly. Wearing Flowers to be avoided.
Hair style : Males
Not fall over the ears, eyebrows or even touch the back of the collar Will always present a neat appearance. Facial hair should be neatly trimmed (moustache, sideburns), beards are not recommended
Nails ails
Clip nails short, along their shape. Nails to be properly shaped & not like claws with nail polish . Nail polish colors can be pink or maroon only.
Teeth
Brush teeth twice a day and rinse well after every meal . Remember to rinse your mouth after every meal For those who smoke it is important you rinse your mouth after every smoke and use a mouth freshener
Uniform
Uniform to be worn everyday and changed according to hospital specifications. Uniform should be washed, ironed and maintained neatly.
FOR FEMALES IN PARTICULAR : Sari should be well draped and not below the navel . Sari skirt should be of the same color of the sari. Sari Blouse as per the standards specified by the management. Your Id-Tags are also an important part of your uniform Id-
MakeMake-up
Light make ²up for the day which will consist of a Foundation to match the skin tone. Black eyeliner thinly applied and kajal Lip liners and lipstick ² colors can be basic pink, earthen colors or maroon (no dark colored lip liners with light colored lipstick). Light colored blush pink or earthen color. ( to be worn only to light up the face and not to dark) Eye Brows needs to be trimmed and shaped neatly. Bindis need to be small and round around ½ cm. Maroon or Black.
Accessories :Males
Men should limit accessories to 2 pieces Accessories include watch, ring, handkerchief A dress watch should be worn, avoid athletic styles. Avoid bracelets, necklaces, and visible piercing
BELTS
Wear only formal belts with a sleek buckle. As thumb rule, match your belt to your shoes.
Avoid these buckles.
Accessories :Women
Jewelry should be keep minimal and conservative Remove all facial piercing except earrings The 5 Piece Rule: Wear only 5 accessories earrings count as 2; watch counts as 3, allowing 2 additional accessories, Nurses ² White shoes only with white stockings. Strictly no Open shoes or sandals.
ACCESSORIES
Earrings
Wear stubs or small rings
Do not wear hoops or dangling earrings
Bracelets/Bangles:
You may wear either a bracelet or a bangle. Avoid both.
Avoid chunky bracelets or too many bangles.
Rings: Keep them simple and not
chunky.
Chains:
You may wear thin chains with small lockets.
Do not wear ornamental/ chunky jewelry even if it is an occasion.
BAGS
Apart from your working bag if you are carrying an additional bag, preferably, carry a black or a brown one
Shoes - Men
Wear a good pair of leather shoes- black and brown/tan shoes. shoesShoes must be polished everyday. everyday.
Choose black, brown or burgundy shoes. Shoe color should match your trousers or be of a darker color. Shoes should be in good condition and polished. Socks should match the color of your suit and cover your calves. (Should be washed daily)
Do not wear shoes that look casual. Also, do not wear shoes with worn out heels.
SHOES/SANDALS Shoes with 1 ½ - inch heels are standard. You may wear a pair with smaller heels or a flat pair. Stick with a black/brown pair. Be sure your shoes are polished and that your heels are intact.
Do not wear colorful sandals
Avoid heels and sandals with bling
Avoid white colored sandals as they get dirty easily. If you do, clean them well.
