Great Lakes Institute of Management is organizing an international study tour to Singapore and Malaysia for its students in September. The 8 day visit, a first of its kind, is an exercise in understanding the market and the working of organizations in the two countries. Students have formed groups based on their specialization and will be visiting organizations across diverse verticals like marketing, retail and finance. A meeting with the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister is also part of the itinerary.
The Great Lakes motto is ‘Global mindset, Indian roots’ – achieving the best international management education combined with Asian values. The students are being taught by faculty from the best international B-schools in their Chennai campus. As an extension, during this tour they will attend classes at prestigious universities in the above countries and interact with their students.
“It is not all about attending lectures. We also have Sentosa Island and Genting highlands on the menu” says the Study Tour Committee. This would be a welcome change from the hectic schedule that accompanies a one year program. In fact, the college which will move into its 14 acre facility at Mammallapuram next year, plans to make this tour a permanent part of curriculum going forward.
