GCPL maintained its strong growth momentum
in the Soap segment. The Company is today the 2nd
largest player in the sector.
GCPL today enjoys a 9% market share compared to
8% of the previous year.
PBIT margins too continue to be healthy at 12%.
The Toilet Soap segment which has exhibited flat growth in recent years grew by 3% in FY 2005-06.
Cinthol
It is GCPL’s flagship brand, which is recognised as a “Superbrand”.
Cinthol Deo Soap Sport, a new variant introduced in first quarter also received a strong response at both the Dealer & Consumer level.

It is continued to be amongst the fastest growing soap brands & is the largest selling Grade 1 soap in the country.

It is the country’s first blemish free fairness soap which created market history as one of the most successful innovations.

In March 2006, the Company introduced a new age control soap called ‘Evita’.
It contains AHA that rejuvenates the skins from within reducing wrinkles.

Hair color
In this year, on the basis of the review, this category accounted for 25% of GCPL’s total sales. Today GCPL’s presence is spread across the entire category spectrum i.e. from the basic but the most popular Godrej Coloursoft.
Toiletries
This category amounts to 6% of GCPL’s Total Sales.The growth momentum picked up in this category is 61% with encouraging growth across its products.
Power
It is a smaller contributor to Total Sales. The introducing of Godrej No.1 Talc in Sandal & Jasmine fragrances has been well received. Even Cinthol is leading.
Shaving Cream
It is one of the oldest & well-established brands on this category. This cream is marketed in four variants.
Baby care
GCPL entered in this category by acquiring the trademark & copyright for the disposable diaper brand “Snuggy”.
Detergent
This grew strongly in this year under the review.
‘Ezee’ sales were higher by 9% boosted by onset of an early winter especially in the northern regions.
It possesses a Woolmark certification that indicates
it is ideally suited to wash all woollen materials.
Your Company has become the second largest player in toilet soaps by value with sales improving by 18%. This growth was spurred by strong improvements across all brands especially No.1, as well as product introduction.
‘Evita’, an age control soap was introduced the last quarter of the year. A Lavender variant was added to the “Godrej No.1” soap range. We also launched Godrej No. 1 talc with Sandal & Jasmine variants.
The hair colour category also saw the launch of the Powder Fashion Hair Colours. As part of our “Cover Up To Colour Up” strategy, we continuously identify products & applications across the hair colour range with a focus on the mainstream population which we believe is the largest & fastest growing sector.
The Re. 1 increase in the consumer price of Godrej Hair Dye Sachets that was executed in the first quarter was seamless & well accepted by the consumer with no slow-down in volume growth.Toiletries too demonstrated encouraging growth. All initiatives including the Cinthol Talcum Powder ‘Buy one, Get one Free’ offer, the Snuggy trail offer at Rs.10 per diaper & the launch of Godrej Shaving Cream Lather Deluxe continue to deliver strong results.
