Girls outperform boys in exams

These are the headlines that run during exam results.

Are they misleading?

Because they cherry pick exams and NEVER do gender comparison when declaring results of IIT-JEE, AIEEE, ENG-CET, CAT,CMAT,etc.

Is it plain sexism and stereotyping of boys?

They say that girls outperform because a large number of boys fail. Is this something that should be celebrated? Large number of boys failing.

And the news media stereotype boys as naughty and girls as sincere. But forget about the entrance exams which needs a lot of efforts.

Remember that the media creates an echo chamber in culture. It may get into many boys heads that they are not good enough and that academy is not for them.

I agree with your point.

I was actually talking about the news media's reports during results. I did not see any headline this year that said "Boys outperform girls in IIT-JEE". Or AIEEE, CAT,CMAT,etc.

Why make comparison between the sexes? That is my point.
 
People will always have topics to debate upon but it really doesn't matter. One thing is true that even I have seen from my school days that girls always score more than boys, but I don't know, may be scientifically girls are more theoretical and boys tend to be more practical, and there can be different factors too

That is an interesting point. Girls do score higher in board exams, but boys generally do better in entrance exams. It is clearly evident because the highest rankers in board exams are majority girls, and this year 89% of the candidates clearing the IIT - JEE advanced were boys. So boys and girls are not exactly the same in their skills. A lot of things need to be taken into account. IMO the education of boys is at least as important as the education of girls.

At the moment the number of boys flunking in board exams is alarming.

My main point is the approach taken by the media and educators. The media belittles boys and stereotypes them as naughty and is all praises for girls. And the same approach is taken by educators.

So clearly attention needs to be given for the education of boys, but it is not being given.
 
Yes usually girls outperform boys academically i.e.in exams.The reason is because girls are sincere and responsible.While boys are bit careless and they believe in overnight study or the study done just before the exam.So due to this on-time study the exam graph gets affected.So girls outperform boys in exam.
 
I do not think so. From my view they perform far better than the boys in most of the schools. Majority of the girls study much more. They devote additional time for doing preparation, and normally give less time for playing online games or video games. Males believe they%u2019re very trendy for school, exactly where girls ar extremely inspired to perform effectively.
