Get ready to take a long walk: Mumbai autos and taxis to go on strike

It’s going to be sweaty Wednesday and even the McDonald’s and KFC Wednesday inciting offer too, might not help. Tomorrow, please don’t go for gym or walking in the early morning, there are chances that you might have to walk a long way to your office because Mumbai’s autos and taxis to go on strike against Ola and Uber, according to sources. Private taxi’s have created their own market and gained immense market share hitting the stomach of the local autos and taxis drivers.
Nitish Rane, leader of Swabhiman taxi union and MLA from Kankavali, has called for a one-day taxi and auto strike in protest against "illegal" private taxi aggregators, according to a Times of India report. "The day long strike which will end at 5 PM, is only an alarm to the state government and if our demands are not met, then the union would be forced to launch an intensive agitation," said K K Tiwari, Mumbai President of Swabhiman Union. "We had petitioned the state government and given them a list of demands last week, but in vain. We were not called for any discussions, which are why we plan to go ahead with the agitation," the report quoted KK Tiwari of Swabhiman Union as saying.
However, according to a Times of India report, the biggest taxi union of the city led by AL Quadros has opposed the strike and appealed all taxis and autos to come out and ply their trade "fearlessly”. The ginormous auto union in the city led by Shashank Rao has also indicated that they will also join the movement from June 17.Whatever, may be the reason but tomorrow seems like bad day for the commuters and they will experience nightmares even in day.
