Gala Artis: Guylaine Tremblay, Claude Legault repeat as Quebec favourite TV stars

The actors, loved by the Quebec public, were also awarded for their roles in Un sur 2 and Unité 9, respectively. The two were visibly very emotional over the awards, which like all the others are chosen by the public. Legault, usually impenetrable, has his voice crack with emotion at the end of his speech. If you've seen me with my tortured look over the past few years, it's because this has gotten bigger than myself, he said after explaining the adversity he faced earlier in his career. It's because of this that sometimes I look frightened. Claude Legault is bigger than me. I'm still Claude.
Tremblay cried on stage when Janine Sutto gave her her trophy for female personality of the year. I can't believe I'm getting this award from your hands, Tremblay told Sutto, who celebrated her 93rd birthday on Easter Sunday. It's been 30 years since I left the Conservatoire with plenty of doubts and especially plenty of dreams, and each of you (the public) helped me to achieve my dream. If Tremblay's speech was filled with emotion, so too was Sutto's entrance moments earlier, with the veteran actress sitting on a chair carried onto the stage by actors Remy Girard, Raymond Bouchard, Marc Messier, Donald Pilon, Gilles Renaud and Normand Chouinard, who presented the male personality prize to Legault. I wanted to do this simply, she said jokingly after the audience gave her a standing ovation lasting one to two minutes.
The gala was televised live on TVA and hosted by Mario Tessier.
