Future demand of Tooth Paste depends upon the per capita rayte of consumption and segment of population using paste. It is understood that most of the consumers still use paste only once in a day. Average consumption is understood to be 1 to 1.5 Kg per anum per person. An average size family requires around 2 ytubes of 200 grams each a month.
As far as segment of population consuming paste is concerned, in urban areas poor and very poor classes are found consuming tooth paste and tooth powder both. On asking the retailers, their opinion was that the popularity of tooth paste is increasing day by day because of its good packaging, easy easy availability and applicability to tooth brush. But still in villages, due to high cost and availability of brushes, non-awareness, etc., tooth paste is not very popular.
The demand in past is found to have increased with increase I number of middle class population. At present, as per government sources, population in middle class is 100 million. This class will further expand with economic growth and various povertyremoval and employment programmes. This will certainly increase the demand of tooth paste.
Awareness of dental hygiene is increasing. Urbanization is increasing and the consumer segment is expanding too.
This will certainly provide a huge market for tooth paste. Keeping all these factors in mind, demand is expected to increase 15% per anum in next five years.
