Fully-loaded Nokia for just Rs 3,000

Fully-loaded Nokia for just Rs 3,000

It’s got the lion’s share of India's mobile phone market and wants to maintain its dominance as more people buy their first handsets.

It's rivals' phones might be cheaper but Nokia's latest range of entry level phones launched on Thursday tries to pack in more features and durability.

"First concern is durability the quality is this value for money.. Our strategy of providing high qulaity aspirational design with the ease of use under the nokia brand has being extremely powerful,” says Sr Vice President Nokia Soren Petersen.

The new line up includes clamshells like the 2670 and 2630 with Bluetooth, GPRS, VGA camera, FM and MP-3, all for nearly Rs 5,000.

The sleek Nokia 2630 has all that plus video recording.

Shell out Rs 3,000 and you could grab the Nokia-1200 or the 1208, which offer a flashlight and color screen.

With the three billion mobile user mark as its target, Nokia is clearly training its sights on the bottom of the pyramid.

So Now get yourself one...

Take care...

All this makes me think.

Motorola is already a decent brand in Mumbai with abhishek campaigning for it.

Sony erricson has innovative cell phones which are not agressively advertised but are a cut above the rest.

Samsung LG, I dont see much scope for them in the short term.

I dont understand admist brands like Sony and Motorola, how is nokia able to sustain its market share !?

Given that they advertise aggressively, is that the only reason for their huge market share in cell phones industry ??

Any thoughts guys ?

there are better brands than Nokia, like moto, sony lg etc....
but only one reason why Nokia is doing well is because they have the first mover advantage something present in Philip Kotler book on marketing
hope that Kartik Raichura got the answer

Hey JIT, you know nokia was actually a PULP MILL in the pre telecommunication era [ Refer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia#Pre-telecommunications_era ]

Good you brought up the first mover advantage.

Successful serial entrepreneurs like Mahesh Murthy have a totally different opinion about the first mover advantage

To quote :
The discussion was heating up and the audience were also charged up to question his status quo on the same. When asked about the “first mover advantage”, Mahesh openly rejected it saying the second mover advantage is always the best and he gave a lot of instances (of corporations) where the first mover was overtaken by the second mover. A different twist to the tale especially for the students after accepting that the first mover advantage is quite high.

This puts the first mover advantage for nokia in ambiguity.

What can be the other possible reasons for Nokia's lions share in the cell phones market ?

Great going ross.

So basically to sum it up, if samsung and motorola come up with a vast product range with different price points spread across, come up with a motorola and samsung gallery respectively and create a cell "MADE FOR INDIA" which is agressively advertised, they can pull the bull by its horns and throw it in the finland retreat !? :pound:
