FULFILLING BASIC NECESSITY

I remember reading ok and coca cola are the two most recognized words in the world, regardless of languages.

But I agree with you, basic infrastructure is very important for India to progress as a nation

Well I agree with the topic.

We are living in a society where coke and Pepsi have penetrated to our rural counterpart but still drinking water is not.

The possible reason I feel is Govt allow the manufacturers of coke and Pepsi to manufacture and distribute Coke and Pepsi in rural areas because Govt will get the revenues but for the basic amenities like Pure drinking water, Government will have to do spending.

So the need for the rural India is pure drinking water and not coke and Pepsi as we know water is a fundamental unit of life and >80 %u0025 of the diseases occur due to drinking impure water!

Now as the elections are near by UPA govt will try to get maximum attention frm the people by introducing different schemes that will benefit some class or society. If they really want growth then they would introduce schemes like direct money transfer to poor, infrastructure project approval much earlier but i don't think there intention is progress of our nation they just want to remain in power that y they are introducing such things right now.

they are not concern about basic necessity of common man but concern only abt their common needs.

Sometimes I wonder how Coke and Pepsi find enough water to manufacture their drinks and supply them in those remote areas and yet make a profit out of it.

Would be interesting to study their cost structures for manufacturing. If Govt of India, replicates the same model on not for profit basis, there could possibly be a more effective model that is not more expensive than the current expenditures for water infrastructures.

Oh but... wait!! there's the corruption factor too... forget it!!

Agree with you, but why this happen ? In most of area still no water, electricity, hospital but coke or pepsi is available. why ? Answer is because of our political system is so corrupt that all facility allotted to rural area are eaten up by them.

I believe that these initiatives have to come from the group sports personalities, actors and business tycoons who can really takes these basic and most required initiatives and work for these causes and can bring the social & infrastructural change in the rural sector. As C.K.Prahalad says that rural india has a very big potential but it has to be found out, this calls for a sense of inquisitiveness a belief to make change for the betterment of the society,as the future really lies at the bottom of the pyramid.

yup amit i support your thought but those people are not taking those initiatives and if they trying to other people are always there to create hurdles in there path.

I am also agree with all. Even if government wanted to make profit out of all then why coke and pepsi and why not drinking water in water bottles. Government should call tenders for water bottle plants. At least it will help rural people in many ways, they will get electricity, employment, and other basic resources to fulfill their necessities. Having a water plant in the rural sector is much better option and healthy investment than having supply channels for coke & pepsi.
