Flash Mob for Promotion of Mridang'13, Annual Cultural Fest of IIM Indore

Weeks of practice culminated in six minutes of exhilarating dancing today at C21 and Malhar Mall in Indore. Over 60 students from IIM Indore put their best foot forward and shook a leg as they danced to some of the peppiest numbers in their latest ‘flash mob’ to promote their cultural extravaganza, Mridang ’13.

Led by ‘Vibes’, the Dance Club at IIM Indore, the students put on a show that will not be forgotten in the near future. The show was kick started with a dance by the members of ‘Vibes’ to the popular number “Muqabala”. This got the crowd’s attention and as the crowd started to build up so did the number of dancers.

Soon they were dancing to Hookah Bar, the hit number from the movie “Khiladi 786” and by this time the flash mob had reached almost its full strength. No flash mob would have been complete without the viral sensation “Gangnam Style” which was the next song in the queue. It was obviously the most popular number, as a number of mall goers were seen stopping to dance along with the troupe as the crowd continued to build on the different floors that overlooked the Atrium where the performance was taking place.

The flashmob ended with a free for all, where everyone was invited to join in as they danced to arguably one of the most happening dance numbers in the last couple of years “Nakkamukka”. It was the ideal way to end an almost perfect event which gave everyone a glimpse of what can be expected on the 23rd and 24th of February at Mridang, the cultural extravanganza whose banner was held aloft at the end of the performance.

This was merely an appetizer before the real deal. With the flash mob in the bag, the build up to Mridang is now truly on in full earnest.

In an innovative and engaging effort to promote Mridang'13, the annual cultural fest of IIM Indore, the organizing committee decided to stage a flash mob in the heart of the city. This unique promotional strategy aimed to capture the attention of the local community and students alike, generating excitement and buzz around the upcoming event. The flash mob was meticulously planned to take place at the bustling central square, where passersby and shoppers were unexpectedly treated to a vibrant and dynamic performance. Participants, dressed in colorful attire and armed with musical instruments, suddenly gathered and began performing a synchronized dance routine to a medley of popular songs. The spontaneous nature of the event drew a crowd, with many onlookers joining in, filming, and sharing the experience on social media. This not only helped in spreading the word about Mridang'13 but also showcased the fest's commitment to creativity and community engagement. The flash mob successfully created a memorable and positive impression, setting a high expectation for the cultural extravaganza that awaited participants and visitors.
