Exclusive: Ash's future perfect

Mumbai: She is one actor, who is always in demand whether in India or abroad. Apart from being seen on televison as a brand ambassador of umpteen products, Aishwarya Rai will now be seen in about four films in a theatre close to you. Rajeev Masand caught up with the pretty damsel, talking about her future projects.

Rajeev Masand: Ash, it’s been a long time since we have seen you on screen. It has been many months since your last film released. I suppose to compensate for that we are going to be treated to an Aishwarya Rai festival of sorts. It has been four film releases back-to-back Umrao Jaan, Dhoom 2, Guru and Provoked.

Aishwarya Rai: Yes, all that I have been working on now are all ready for release.

Rajeev Masand: I suppose the good thing is that though we don’t see you much on screen but at least you are endorsing lots of brands so you are all over television. How do you decide what brands to endorse? How do you pick what to do?

Aishwarya Rai: What has been wonderful is that I have been approached. It is not that I went searching. I have been very fortunate that the companies have considered me an apt ambassador. There was an audience out there is what made me more responsible about the companies and the brands I associated with. And they were by choice. I think that I have been blessed with the opportunity as an actor to essay several iconic characters. To make them individual, to make them alive and to have that vision that my director realised on celluloid is by far the most important, special and challenging aspect of what I have to deliver as an actor.

Rajeev Masand: Right after Umrao Jaan, we see you in Dhoom 2 which is completely the other pole, so to speak. You have a contemporary and very sexy look in that.

Aishwarya Rai: I love the fact that Adi (Aditya Chopra) and Sanjay (Gadhvi) saw me to be this character. Sometimes we debate saying, “Are you sure?” And again we say, “It is going to be a discovery.”
Rajeev Masand: Great! We are all looking forward to see all four of your new films. Thank you so much for talking to us.

Aishwarya Rai: Thank you.
