Epic Research Update : Asian Markets

Asian markets were trading lower on Monday. Japan released worse-than-expected third quarter growth data and as mainland markets welcomed the launch of the keenly-anticipated Shanghai-Hong Kong stock connect.

Japan’s Nikkei tumbled 2.10 percent or 267.77 points at 17,123.06.

Singapore’s Straits Times shed 0.22 percent or 7.44 points at 3,308.23.

China’s Shanghai Composite was up 0.10 percent or 2.39 points at 2,476.43.

Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted fell 0.90 percent or 80.67 points at 8,902.21.

South Korea’s Seoul Composite was flat at 1,946.91. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was flat at 24,101.43.
 
Indian Asian Market Update

Indian ADRs ended mostly higher on Monday.

In the IT space, Infosys rose 0.22 percent at USD 67.99.

Wipro shed 0.79 percent at USD 12.48.

In the banking space, ICICI Bank gained 0.31 percent at USD 58.11.

HDFC Bank declined 0.44 percent at USD 51.93.

In the other sectors, Tata Motors added 5.28 percent at USD 47.68.

Dr Reddy%u2019s Laboratories was up 0.11 percent at USD 56.09.
 
Asian equities opened mostly higher early Wednesday, as investors took heart from an inspiring performance on Wall Street overnight and news of a snap poll in Japan.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei rose 0.31 percent or 53.19 points at 17,397.25.

Singapore%u2019s Straits Times gained 0.57 percent or 18.82 points at 3,332.55.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite shed 0.29 percent or 5.77 points at 1,961.24.

Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted added 0.62 percent or 55.15 points at 8,914.22.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2,454.62. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng was flat at 23,519.51.
 
Asian equity markets kicked off Thursday mixed, as traders reacted to better-than-expected trade figures from Japan and the continued slide in iron ore prices.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite fell 0.39 percent or 9.49 points at 2,441.49.

Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng shed 0.33 percent or 77.16 points at 23,296.15.

Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was down 0.12 percent or 4.05 points at 3,330.51.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite declined 0.62 percent or 12.13 points at 1,954.74.

Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted rose 0.86 percent or 76.82 points at 9,040.06.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei gained 0.18 percent or 30.83 points at 17,319.58.
 
Asian stocks were mixed on a data-light Friday, overlooking Wall Street%u2019s higher finish overnight following strong US economic data.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was up 0.45 point to 2,453.11 while Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng was down 2.54 points to 23,347.10, at 8 hours IST.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei 225 Average lost 162.67 points or 0.94 percent to 17,138.19 whereas Singapore%u2019s Straits Times rose 22.01 points or 0.66 percent to 3,337.61 and South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite advanced 4.32 points or 0.22 percent to 1,962.36.

Taiwan Weighted was up 1.89 points at 9,080.76.
