Asian equity markets pared losses Thursday following upbeat manufacturing data from China but concerns over tight liquidity in the mainland continued to weigh on sentiment. China’s Shanghai Composite slipped 0.50 percent or 10.84 points at 2,172.27. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng shed 0.49 percent or 112.51 points at 22,887.44. Japan’s Nikkei plunged 0.94 percent or 135.21 points at 14,290.84. Singapore’s Straits Times was flat at 3,205.38. South Korea’s Seoul Composite was down 0.20 percent or 4.05 points at 2,031.70. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted fell 0.54 percent or 45.72 points at 8,347.90.
 
Epic Asian Markets Update

Asian equity markets kicked off the week mostly higher following record highs on Wall Street late last week.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei rebounded from multi-week lows, trading higher by 1.16 percent at 14,251.46 but the Shanghai Composite underperformed to hover near seven-week lows at 2,130.50.

Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng rose 0.48 percent or 107.90 points at 22,806.24. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times gained 0.31 percent or 9.83 points at 3,215.07.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite added 0.23 percent or 4.72 points at 2,039.11. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted jumped 0.65 percent or 54.20 points at 8,400.82.

Chinese equity markets enjoyed a strong bounce on Tuesday, leading the rest of Asian stocks to pare losses but sentiment was cautious as attention turned to regional earnings.

The Shanghai Composite led gains by nearly 1 percent at 2,151.55.

Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng added 0.54%u0025 or 123.55 points at 22,930.13.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei shed 0.60% or 85.79 points at 14,310.25.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite was down 0.12% or 2.38 points at 2,045.76. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted was flat at 8,402.09 and Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was flat at 3,204.97.

Asian stocks on Friday took their cues from Wall Street%u2019s sharp losses overnight, with a focus on the unexpected cut in interest rates by the European Central Bank (ECB) and ahead of trade data from China.
China%u2019s Shanghai Composite slipped 0.35 percent or 7.49 points at 2,121.91.
Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng shed 0.52 percent or 120.07 points at 22,760.96.
Japan%u2019s Nikkei fell 0.99 percent or 141.33 points at 14,087.11.
Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was down 0.43 percent or 13.62 points at 3,188.48.
South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite declined 0.39 percent or 7.83 points at 1,996.21.
Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted was down 0.40 percent or 33.22 points at 8,250.49.
