The Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) leverages MIT’s culture of high-tech
entrepreneurship to help entrepreneurs, corporate venturing executives, and others involved
in entrepreneurial environments learn what they need to develop ideas into successful
businesses, and how to increase entrepreneurial opportunities in their corporations,
institutions, and regions.
Program Bene?ts
The concepts, tools, and frameworks covered in the
program will enable participants to:
» CREATE, identify, and evaluate new venture
opportunities
» INTERPRET customer needs and quantify the value
proposition
» START and build a successful technology-based
company
» UNDERSTAND how the process of starting new ventures
may vary geographically and culturally
» LEVERAGE new science and technologies from
corporate or university laboratories
» DEVELOP winning business plans
» SCALE companies to be globally successful
» NAVIGATE the venture capital investment process
» OBTAIN feedback on personal entrepreneurial skills
» ENHANCE and expand their networks
Program Experience
Through lectures by senior MIT faculty, visits to high-tech
startups, and live case studies with successful entrepre-
neurs, participants will be exposed to the content, context,
and contacts that enable entrepreneurs to design and
launch successful new ventures based on innovative
technologies. Specially designed team projects give
participants hands-on, practical experience developing a
business plan, while networking events bring participants
together with members of MIT’s entrepreneurial
community.
Who Should Attend
This program is designed for founders and CEOs who want
to enhance, update, and re?ne their entrepreneurial skills. It
is also very applicable to aspiring entrepreneurs, corporate
“intrapreneurs”, corporate venture of?cers, and those who
would like to develop or strengthen the skills and climate of
innovation and/or entrepreneurship in their organizations.http://executive.mit.edu/edp
The MIT Edge
According to a recent report, more than 25,000 active
companies founded by MIT alumni have generated
about 3.3 million jobs and $2 trillion in annual
revenues. If they formed a nation, these companies
would constitute the world’s 11th largest economy,
ranking between Brazil and Russia. Read the full

The mission of the Martin (1958) Trust Center for
MIT Entrepreneurship is to educate and nurture the
leaders who will make new ventures successful. More
than 1,600 students attend over 30 entrepreneurship
courses at MIT each year. In addition, over 1,400
participants from more than 65 countries have
attended executive education programs organized
by the Martin (1958) Trust Center for MIT Entrepre-
neurship. Alumni of the programs form a vibrant and
dynamic worldwide support network for the next gen-
eration of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.

It’s easy to talk in clichés, but EDP is a genuinely life-changing experience. You walk into the
building one person and a week later, you walk out someone altogether di?erent: inspired,
energized, and stripped of all fear. It’s not that you come out thinking that being a successful
entrepreneur is easy—it’s not—but you believe that you can do it and you want to give it your
best shot. And you know that, if you fail, you’ll get right back up and try again—in exactly the
same way that most of the teachers on the program have.”

An excellent program, highly recommended to
any current or would be business owner. Very
useful tools and frameworks for our
existing company. Great motivational speakers
and coaches. I regret not taking a similar course
10 years ago.”

This was a great program. I loved it! The material
thought, the faculty, the company visits, etc. all
enlighten and brings awareness to the details you
need to know when starting your own business. I
was ill-prepared prior to and now I can
con?dently say I am well-prepared to execute the
next phase of my career.”
