FMR LLC (FMR LLC), known as Fidelity Investments, is one of the largest mutual fund and financial services groups in the world. It was founded in 1946 and serves North American investors. Fidelity Ventures is its venture capital arm. Fidelity International Limited (FIL), was an international affiliate founded in 1969, serving most countries in the rest of the world. In September 2010, FIL was rebranded as 'Fidelity Investment Managers'.[1]
Fidelity Investments manages a large family of mutual funds, provides fund distribution and investment advice services, as well as providing discount brokerage services, retirement services, wealth management, securities execution and clearance, life insurance and a number of other services.

BOSTON -- Fidelity Investments® (Fidelity), a leading provider of brokerage custody services to more than 3,000 independent registered investment advisors (RIAs), today announced it has strengthened the Fidelity Practice Management ProgramSM with a human resources (HR) consulting and recruitment offering provided by Manpower Business Solutions (MBS). MBS is part of the Manpower Inc. (NYSE: MAN) group of companies.

Designed to help advisors strengthen their efforts to attract and retain talented individuals, the exclusive program provides Fidelity clients access to MBS’ vast HR consulting and recruiting services, such as talent management, employee retention and engagement, organizational effectiveness and compensation. Advisors also have access to the firm’s HR and talent management best practices, research and insights.

A recent Fidelity survey shows 60 percent of RIAs are actively looking to acquire new advisors and 73 percent indicate adding new advisors includes recruiting breakaway brokers.

“For advisors in growth mode, getting more from less just simply isn’t an option any more -- they also need to attract new, high-performing talent,” said David E. Canter, executive vice president and head of Practice Management and Consulting at Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services. “Whether advisors are hiring staff with existing books of business or tapping into a pool of career changers, finding the right candidates can be a difficult and time consuming process. Our offering provided through MBS and other third-party recruiters can help advisors more effectively manage the hiring and on-boarding process, while also helping maximize the productivity of existing staff. ”

The new MBS relationship provides advisors with various HR consulting, recruitment and workforce solutions at preferred rates for Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services clients, including:

• HR Consulting Services: MBS’ experienced HR consultants focus on key areas, including talent management (e.g., employee retention and engagement), organization effectiveness, compensation, recruiting and HR administration, and executive coaching and management development.

• Recruiting Services: MBS is a leader in recruiting for financial services companies, with a special focus on recruiting business development professionals for brokerage firms and RIAs. MBS recruiters screen more than 50,000 wealth management candidates annually on behalf of their clients. As a result, they have some of the most successful financial services recruiters in the industry.

• HR and Talent Management Research and Insights: MBS conducts research, provides insights and publishes research papers and articles on relevant topics, such as labor market trends, HR practices, recruiting and talent management. MBS HR consultants have deep expertise and knowledge on a wide variety of HR and talent management issues.

“Our growth strategy is dependent upon the strong performance of our experienced team of investment professionals, client service representatives and advisors,” said Jerry Luff, senior managing director and chief operating officer at Baker Avenue Asset Management. “Given the unique role that each staff member plays in servicing clients, it is critical that our employees are motivated and energized to make a difference for our clients and the firm. The practical resources we received from Fidelity and the HR consulting from MBS have helped solidify the talent management infrastructure we need to engage employees and continue our aggressive growth plans.”

“When hiring, advisors often consider incorporating a talent plan that looks out over the next three to five years or even longer,” said Canter. “Advisors have told us that by developing long-term plans that complement talent acquisition and business development, they can help ensure they have the right people in place to meet the demands of their every-day needs and execute their growth goals.”

In addition to the services provided by MBS, Fidelity’s broader Advisor HR Solutions program offers advisors access to additional best practices, tools and resources in areas of hiring, developing and retaining talent. Specifically, the program offers:

• Online tools and resources -- Through the Fidelity Advisor HR Solutions Web site, advisors have access to more than 40 resources developed by third parties, including sample employment applications, tips for delivering performance reviews, and advice on designing a compensation system, as well as guides, tools and white papers on a host of other talent management topics.

• Client events and engagements -- Roundtables and webinars offer advisors opportunities to learn directly from human resources experts on strategies for developing, motivating and retaining top-performing employees.

Fidelity also maintains relationships with several other third-party recruiting organizations as part of its ongoing efforts to help advisors transition to independence.
