Job Responsibilities
· Assists with overall operation of the food department.
· Implements, controls and coordinates food policies, procedures and financial goals to include: handbooks, training and motivation, communication, cost of sales, per cap, labor costs, and other expenses.
· Ensures documentation and performance appraisals are maintained for all seasonal employees.
· Ensures food locations are in compliance with health, fire, ABC and safety regulations.
· Maintains appropriate staffing levels and develops and implements employee retention programs to increase morale and productivity.
· Selects, trains, supervises and directs seasonal area supervisors.
· Ensures service, quality and integrity standards are maintained throughout department.
· Assists with planning, costing and retailing of menu items.
· Ensures proper cash control and cash register operations.
· Ensures proper inventory and point of sale controls.
· Develops and monitors operating budget on an ongoing basis.
· Keeps abreast of industry trends and practices.
· Ensures the food department maximizes sales and profits.

In her new role, Cox will oversee management staff education and develop management training programs for recent college graduates, succession plans for employees, and employee turnover and retention strategies.
Prior to joining Old Dominion, Cox worked as a corporate training and development manager at Epes Carriers, Inc. In addition, she gained human resource experience at Pergo, Inc. and Burlington Industries, Inc., where she spent 15 years as manager of human resources development.

A native of Hamptonville, N.C., Cox studied adult education at North Carolina State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial and technical education. Cox later achieved her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification, showing her knowledge in functional areas of strategic management, workforce planning and development, HR development and other employee relations.
