The 26th February, 2011 will always be a very special day for me. I had the honor of meeting some of the most honest and genuine people in the world. It was a day at IMT with the students of Asha Vidyalaya, Ghaziabad. The school is not just a regular one, it is a place where God’s most favorite kids, those whom he has bestowed not with what he gives the normal kids, like ability to hear or a normal mental growth. But he gifts them the most rare and precious abilities of expression, of care, of love and of gratitude.
To be honest, when I saw them dancing beautifully to the sound of silence, I couldn’t control myself and tears came down rolling down my eyes. I was too overwhelmed to see any further. For a moment I was like, ‘How could God be so unkind to such beautiful children?’ But, the feeling went away as soon as it came.
When I started interacting and playing with them, I realized that they do not lack anything. They are as normal as they can be. They aren’t missing on anything in life. In fact, they were more humane than any one of us. The amount of care that each kid displayed for the others, especially the elder ones for the younger ones was something I have never witnessed before. They made sure that they are always there to support, motivate and be there for each other. At the lunch table, if one kid wanted something the 5 surrounding him/her would stop eating and call for the kid be served. Not many of us do that for everyone around us. Do we?
The Ehsaas….. Experience brought me a step closer to life. It made me realize, while we crib about things like relationships, grades, placements and other such mundane issues, we really forget the joy of friendship and care that eventually vanishes from our lives. These kids were not even thinking that they were missing something in life, when we are always looking for things we don’t have in life.
I thank MADF from the deepest of my heart for such a wonderful experience…
