Partnership with Etymotic Research
Under the inMotion brand, Altec Lansing Technologies sold headphones that were created in partnership with Etymotic Research to be much like the ER-4 series headphones. The inMotion 716 and 616 looked and performed much like their Etymotic cousins but were marketed toward the average listener looking to replace their free bundled portable earbuds with higher-performance earphones. The eartips used were the same style as the ER-4 and ER-6 series with some minor adjustments to fit the iM716/616. The iM716 and im616 contained some Etymotic-made parts but were not identical to an ER-4.
Partnership with Ultimate Ears
In 2007, in partnership with Ultimate Ears and within the Upgrader Series of Altec Lansing's earphone and headphone category, Altec Lansing launched the UHP306 (based on the Ultimate Ears MetroFi 2 and MetroFi 200) and UHP336 (based on the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 3 Studio). After acquiring the technology and parts from Ultimate Ears, Altec Lansing made further modifications to the designs.

Rashi Peripherals is the sole national distributor for Altec-Lansing sound systems in India and the company so far has been focusing on direct billing across the nation to its channel partners. However, taking a move forward, according to Gupta, the distributor resorted to appoint Universal as a regional distributor for North Bengal and Sikkim, bidding to increase its top line across the region. Under the agreement, Universal will be billing directly to all the channel partners in the region and Rashi will be in charge of supplies and promotional activities. “Rashi has excellent after-sales and service support in North Bengal with its own service center. Under the terms of service, Rashi will be replacing the box to the customer on spot for any anomalies in the product for the high range and for the mid-low range, a turn-around time of 24 hours is given,” Gupta added.
Universal Computers, with the support of Rashi has already started campaigning over the promotional activities in Siliguri, Malda and Gangtok and will be reaching out to the Jalpaiguri-Dooars area by the month-end. “With excellent branding support from Rashi we are already catering to 30 channel partners for the speakers and targeting to incorporate 40 more by the end of this CY,” he concluded. With the addition of exclusive distribution rights for Altec-Lansing and Numeric, Microsoft hardware has also proved very beneficial for the company. In in first three quarters of FY 09-10, Universal Computers has grown by approximately 28 percent with a target to achieve 35 percent increase by the end of this FY. Also, the Altec-Lansing deal may add 15 percent growth in its consolidated revenue in the last quarter of this FY.
