CRICKET WORLD CUP IN TEST FORMAT

HOW ABOUT A WORLD CU BEING HELD BUT WITH NO ODI'S. ONLY TESTS

IT WOULD WORK LIKE THIS

THERE ARE 10 TEST PLAYING NATIONS.

SO WE WILL DIVIDE THEM IN 2 POOLS.

SAY SUPPOSE, INDIA BANGLADESH, AUSTRALIA, ENGLAND AND WESTINDIES IN GRP A


AND SOUTH AFRICA, ZIMBABWE, SRI LANKA, PAKISTAN AND NEW ZEALAND IN GRP B


EACH COUNTRY WILL PLAY ONE TEST MATCH AGAINST ALL TEAMS IN THEIR POOL. AFTER THIS TOP 6 TEAMS O ON TO PLAY SUPER SIX TOURNEY

THE SIX TEAMS WILL BE TOP 3 FROM EACH GRP.

IN THE SUPER SIX ROUND, TEAM SAY INDIA WILL FACE ALL THE TEAMS OF THE OTHER GRP.

THAT IS THE TEAMS PLAY 3 MATCHES EACH IN THE SUPER SIX ROUND.

THE TOP FOUR TEAMS GO ON TO PLAY THE SEMIS.

THE 1ST AND THE 4TH TEAM IN SUPER SIX MEET IN SEMI 1
THE 2ND AND 3RD TEAM IN SUPER SIX MEET IN SEMI 2

THE WINNER OF BOTH SEMIS CONTEST THE FINAL


THE BIGGEST DRAWBACK BEING IF THE MATCHES ARE DRAWN. THEN WAT

IN ORDER TO OVERCOME THIS, WE WILL GRANT BONUS POINT SYSTEM AS IN THE ODI FORMAT

ALSO EVEN IF THERE IS A DRAW, THEN POINTS WOULD BE COUNTED BASED ON RUNS AND WICKETS

1 RUN = 1 POINT
1 WICKET = 50 POINTS

WICKETS MAY BE IN ANY FORM. I.E. RUNOUTS, STUMPINGS, CAUGHT. ETC.



IN THIS WAY WE CAN CONTEST A TEST MATCH WORLD CUP.


THE ADVANTAGES ARE

BATSMEN WILL SCORE QUICK RUNS
BOWLERS WILL TRY QUICK WICKETS
THE EXCITEMENT WOULD BE VERY HIGH WITH THIS KIND OF WORLD CUP.

the idea was thought som years ago........but the time span involved ws too much.......jus calculate the time period.......it will take 255 days just for matches.........not includin the rest dayz...........

too complicated man.....i don;t thinki it;s gonna work...
moreover who will watch these matches?it's going to result in revenue loss.

hey it comes to 160 days of cricket.

and we can reduce it to 84 days with proper rest for players.

in round robin stages, 1 team has 2 play 4 matches each. the total matches comes to 20 in round robin stages.

we can have a maxiumum of 4 matches at a time.
so, suppose we start from jan 1

there will be 5 days of cricket
then we have 3 days of rest.
similarly for the entire stage.

in this way , we will wind up the round robin stage in 40 days.

ASSUMPTION : WE HAVE MORE THAN 5 VENUES.
WE CONTEST THIS WORLD CUP DURING SUMMER.

we have 5 days rest till super 6 stage

now in super six stage we will again have a similar format.
each team plays 3 matches
therefore total matches come to 9

in this stage we can have a maximum of 3 matches.

we start the super six stage by feb 14th.
we would have 3 rest days like earlier.

this way, we can finish the super6 stage in 24 days.
thus thus we will end the stage by 10th march

again we have 5 days rest. on 15th march we kickoff our semis.
we finish the semis by 19th

after 5 days of rest, again we have a final

thus by the 28th of march, we finish wid our world cup.

we can have the option of doing this in installments

maybe give the teams a longer break between two stages

but it would take a maximum of 3 months time. with shorter breaks, to finish the world cup.

there are lots of ppl to see this matches.

another idea would be to play a knockout.
but the teams would complain of less chances to play.

see the game is already sooooo damn BIg enough to consume most of our daily hours !! and test Cricket ka worldCup.. !!

every 4 yrs , 1 year wud be fully devoted to Cricket World CUp

i think it's a waste of time...if ICC thinks in future this type of format...and viewers also won't have interest...as odi cricket is most popular than tests ... as more runs coming in odis ... and that's what public (audience) wanted ... so test cricket in world cup format is stupid thing ... it will be loss for all stadium owners also...and players also will not be fully fit till the end as there willl be continuously cricket n cricket ... !!!

hmmm....nice idea dude....i wud get 2 watch more cricket den....how about havin 3-4 tests between 6-8 teams at one time...it will b help ful even 4 our sports channels ...imagine we havin india vs west indes on ten sports den 1 match on espn den 1 on star sports etc....woooooahhh....getin 2 much ....gud idea tho maharana....we can also have 2 world cups ....everi 2 years ....wid a span of 4 years ....1 year if we have odi world cup ....after a years gap we can have test world cup....koool....
