Cricket is no more a sport-it's a business

Cricket it no longer a gentleman's game , it is more of a businessman's game . Many Corporates have joined the fray which has led to corporatization of the game, But anyways the game is getting richer , more and more spectators are flocking the stadium , players are getting richer by huge amount,The only loser is TEST CRICKET , because of the huge popularity of 20-20 tournament , the next generation cricketers are orientating themselves to the 20-20 format in which the players with hard hitting abilities and power are preferred over players who don't have that ability but have mettle , strenght of charecter and endurance to endure the tiring , gruelling and trying multi-sessions of test cricket.

What i feel is from the very begining cricket was more than a sport..That is very evident from if we look into teh hefty payment made to the players, and payments for nedorsng a product is also not less.

But yes with IPL an d ICL coming into picture..Cricket as a business has been more evident now.

Not only cricket but other sport created the opportunity for sportsman and sport lovers to be able to make a full time career of it. people need to find a hobby to switch off from everyday stresses, sport is a wonderful way and participation even better

well certainly i agree with you, but at other side its good for the game, for the players at domestic level and i think that if business return back something to society, then its a good business.

Hey cricket is business and now a days any thing where you find more people to appreciate it is Business...

see its a biz....coz BCCI knew how to make money out of it....u cannot blame the sports for the money....it depends on people around the sports as to how they can make a biz out of it....its only coz other cud not, tht people are shouting....well i must say biz or not cricket is a beautiful sports...n it wud stay just tht..

BCCI and Indian Premier League are the richest organizing committees in the world..with the cricket crazy nations of the subcontinent..its more a business than a sport now!!

I could see slowly cricket is becoming more like a business than to be a sport. The recently born T-20 is garnering advertising costs (15L/10 Sec).Already BCCI is a money-spinner.Trying to arrest its monopoly,ICL came into existence.Even BCCI is trying to garner the advertisers with PCL as rival against ICL.All these are trying to invest in cricket which is turning more like a business venture than like a sport.

Earlier is was only a means of relaxation and enjoyment....
The Britishers used to play cricket and it's called a gentleman's game...

But now the evolution of cricket through the ages has made it commercialized and its a job for many..

if one is successful, he becomes a superstar getting so many ads, endorsements, etc....

soon cricket will follow the path of football and money will cause club vs country controversies which plague football today.

As per my view cricket is lost its identity as a sport...Its seems to be just a bussiness this is because players are more interested promoting brands & they perform very badly on ground also if u see IPL one was though hit due to its new format but the sponsors & other top members of BCCI & other personnel got a good amount of money generated by issuing broadcasting rights etc..........Also if players r ill than wht the hell indian team is wasting money paid to them ishe acha dont play.....Indian team very bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the synopsis is 100% true the gr8 example of it can be ipl the gr8 indian premier league which was much more dan cricket and a pure sucess business model
