Creativity

nice one. in our organization the creativity thing has just started. management is more focused nowdays on bringing the creative persons in order to achieve the competitive edge.

A recent research in early 2010 asking senior business executives to name their top-five priorities, here were their answer, shown in reverse order:
5. Reducing costs via better efficiency
4. Attracting and retaining skilled workers/talent
3. Attracting new customers
2. Maintaining competitive advantage
1. Retaining customers and enhancing existing relationships

What happened to innovation? Are innovation and creativity mere budget items to be cut at the first signs of trouble. Or when time get tough, is that precisely when tough companies get creative? In what ways have changing times changed creativity and innovation?

My perspective would be that the above 5 fall in the realm of innovation and creativity. When you see a cassette manufacturing company ride the innovation wave with CD's and DVD's and BLUE RAY's .. its incremental differentiation, innovation that integrates in the 5 points mentioned above.
