This year’s IMT Hyderabad IP Mentors’ meet saw active participation of corporate IP mentors from GMR, Alpla, Netxcell, Iadore[/b] and many other firms where IMT Hyderabad’s students did their internships in the academic year 2016-17. The IP Meet began with a welcome note by Prof. (Dr.) Sourabh Bhattacharya who extended a warm welcome to the faculty mentors and the corporate mentors. This was followed by the IMT Hyderabad, Director, Prof. (Dr.) Satish Ailawadi, [/b]who thanked the gathering and briefed the students about the Internship Programme and it’s benefits. “A classroom cannot be converted to a workplace and therefore to expose students to the corporate world, Internship opportunities are required. It is also a great opportunity for the student to demonstrate his/her skill sets and an opportunity for the organization to assess and evaluate a prospective employee. Students who perform well are often inducted by organisations”, said Dr. Ailawadi.

The corporate mentors shared their feedback about the Internship Process. A structured internship program is fundamental and enables assessing the students. Considering that 70% of the students are freshers, at IMT Hyderabad, the extended internship process has been a propeller for them to understand the basic challenges of the corporate corridors.

Corporate Mentorship and regular faculty visits were of immense value addition to the students and make them more open to learning. Mr. Suraj Meiyur, IP Mentor (IADORE), quoted, “IP Process is God sent” as it has benefitted the corporate firms and the students who do their IP.

IP Mentors also agreed up on the fact that more time should be devoted to guide the students through the IP process. This needs to be planned and shaped in a better way to achieve its goals. Correct monitoring and timely feedback would help in achieving the best for both the firm as well as the interns.
