(oday ban0ing industry plays a crucial role in development of Indian
economy. (oday with the growth of private sector ban0s public sector ban0s
are also facing intense competition. It is time when ban0s need to redefine
their role. 6e have ta0en this project to study contemporary issues in
ban0ing sector. 6e have ta0en five most recent happening issues in ban0ing
sector. ,an0 at home is an issue where ban0s will try to reach to our home
and will provide personali7ed service. Under retail business development
government ban0s will try to cross sell products with traditional ban0ing
products to generate more revenues. (oday with the fear of terrorism money
of underworld and money obtained through unauthori7ed sources can be
converted in legal money which is a danger to economy. In cheque
truncation &,I Is aiming at fast clearance of cheques with the use of
technology.equator principle is a new concept and essential when global
warming and such other environmental issues occur. we have studied ban0 at
home model of ',I and proposed &,8 plan for ',I and analy7ed remaining
topics .our study will be helpful to other students 9',I 9other ban0s and to
every person who is associated with ban0s. 6e hope our analysis suggestion
will be very useful to above mention entities.

(he main object of the project was to learn about the

In order to understand and analy7e the feasibility and response of
BANC;-O6E service9 we focus on the wal0 inns at the branch that
already are customers of the ban0 and meet them while they were in queue
waiting for their turn through informal communication. *btained
information revealed that many of the e:isting customers who live even far
off from the branch have high frequency of visits to the branch. (he ,an0
will have to promote the service in order to reach out to the customers and
ma0e its presence felt. *bservation also indicated that the foot falls at the
branch actually come from various parts of the city irrespective of the
relationship the customers have with the branches through out the city9
which will ma0e the tas0 even more difficult to put up drop bo:es
throughout the city strategically +or awareness of the service we gave
awareness strategies9 3romotional strategies9 3amphlet to educate customers
&egarding the service9 places where the drop bo:es should be placed9 and
some suggestions to overcome the problem which may arise.
&etail business development -odel that is basically a new
dimension of selling product to customers for nationali7ed ban0s9 9 in order
to grow in the present scenario ban0s have to ma0e sure that they attract new
clients not only by providing them new service but also by ma0ing them
aware and wining their trust. &bd helps ban0s in achieving their goals. we
have made the attempt that how rbd can become revenue generation model
for the ban0.
-oney /aundering refers to the conversion or ;/aundering; of
money which is illegally obtained9 so as to ma0e it appear to originate from
a legitimate source. 2ere we have studied the role of ban0s in money
laundering concept.
(runcation is the process of stopping the flow of the physical
cheque issued by drawers the drawee branch. (he physical instrument will
be truncated at some point en!route to the drawee branch and an electronic
image of the cheque would be sent to the drawee branch along with the
relevant information li0e the -I<& fields9 date of presentation9 presenting
ban0s etc. 2ere we have studied how this concept will be helpful to ban0s as
well as customers.
)quator 3rinciples are voluntary set of guidelines developed for
managing social and environmental issues related to the financing
development projects. ,an0s adopting the )quator 3rinciples underta0e to
provide loans only to projects whose sponsors can demonstrate their ability
and willingness to comply with comprehensive processes aimed at ensuring
that projects are developed in a socially responsible manner and according to
sound environmental management practices. 2ere the purpose of study is to
understand the role of ban0s in equator principles.
