The Indian chocolate market is a highly price sensitive, impulse driven market. The objective of this report is to identify the consumer preferences in consumption of chocolates with a specific focus on three wafer chocolate brands namely, Munch, Kit Kat and Perk.

The analysis of the responses indicated that customers generally like all the different types of chocolates. Milk chocolates were found to be the most popular among the various types of chocolates. Among the three brands under investigation, a large percentage of the respondents have eaten the three brands.

Munch did not find much favour among the respondents who preferred Kit Kat or Perk over it. Munch was ranked behind the other two brands in terms of brand name, taste, availability and packaging and advertising. Among the three brands, Munch showed the lease Punch line recall and company association. Interestingly, Munch scored over the other two brands in terms of price of the chocolate. It was also preferred marginally over the other two brands by respondents who consume the chocolate on a regular basis.

Overall, the performance of Munch in the market is much behind Kit Kat and Perk and below the expectations of the target consumers.
