Kerala's most awaited and anticipated Aruvikkara by-election counting began at 8:15am at Sri Swathithirunal College Of Music on Tuesday, 30 June. Congress led United Democratic Front, party candidate KS Sabarinath won Aruvikkara seat on Tuesday by defeating Left Democratic Front’s VijayKumar and Rajagopal from BJP. It was an easy win for the congress led United Democratic Front, According to ANI, UDF candidate K Sabarinath is leading by over 6000 votes, LDF second and BJP third. Counting is still in process. But, they were leading and kept on maintaining their pace and winning the heartthrobing and swashbuckling victory.

The polling was mandatory and pertinent in Aruvikkara constituency which was void after former speaker G Kartikeyan's death. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said the poll outcome would be a referendum on the government’s performance during the past four years while the opposition was confident that the electorate would deal a heavy blow to the ruling Front which was facing various allegations.

Dustup in election is prevalent irrespective of the election posts, even today we see myriads of clashes and allegation from BJP to Congress and vice versa and now AAP adding tinge of flavor and spice to the situation similarly, how can it be different here. During campaigns UDF vain and speaking about their acclaimed work done to help the people while, on the other hand LDF attacked the ruling front with various corruption allegations, including solar and bar bribery scams. However, BJP has made inroads in Kerala politics and O Rajagopal has garnered a noteworthy proportion of votes but, insufficient to win.

NOTA, none of the above has turned up as the incredulous factor where, 1430 people have decided not to give their votes. Well, NOTA seem to be the best suitable option for the people to express their anguish and dissatisfaction.
