According to the companies act 1956, company means a company formed and registered under this act or an existing company formed and registered under any of pervious companies laws.
According to Lord Justice Lindley” A company is an association of many persons who contributes money or money’s worth to a common stock and employed in some trade or business and who share the profits and losses arising there from. The common stock so contributed to it or to whom it pertain are members.
Thus it may be said a company is a voluntary association of persons formed and registered under the present companies act or any other previous company laws
