well it depends upon the type of wrk of the company the product they are manufacturing or service they are giving there is no fixed answer whether flat structure is good or the hierarchal

It the company is small scale, the flat can be option. not otherwise.
Hirarchical structure gives u proper supervisory control, and when you have to report someone, you autometically becomes responsible towards your job.
