Community service for High School graduation

Community service plays a very important role to a teenager. It teaches them that there is a lot they can do in their own communities to make a difference. If this was required to graduate, students would learn many other valuable lessons for their everyday life.

Community service should be made mandatory for high school graduation?

I think that all students should have to complete some community service projects before they graduate from high school. There are many community service jobs such as work at a hospital, work at a soup kitchen, missionary work, and more. This would be a better option than having them pass a standardized test (that is probably too hard anyway). Community service teaches the student responsibility and it also teaches them about issues and situations that are taking place in the real world. Some students may even decide on or become interested in a career through doing community service jobs. Therefore, I believe that community service is a great idea for graduation requirements.
