Films affect the society but the consequence is a mixed one.i mean,you really can't say that films adversely affect the psyche of the youth.i mean, it is really upto us to adopt the things exhibited on the celluloid, isn't it? and if a person goes to a crappy Mallika Sherawat film instead of an Bergman film,then the choice is his, isn't it ? no one is compelling him to watch the hopelessly loud film!
Films do affect popular culture but i think the people who adopt them are more to blame than the source. As no one forces a person to wear baggy jeans and blurt out accented english with revolting pronunciation.
So of the serials also sets up a remarlable impact on the minds of the audience i mean,the recent obsession of the youth in hip-hop or hard-rock(much as i hate them) is clearly reflected in films and serials.
People divert from studies because they want to,not because of films....there is always an excuse! as for Yankees.
Well that is upto us too..isn't it?we can avoid being complete losers if we choose not to fall for those faulty impersonations of Akon or Eminem!
