Chris Lynn : A new Hero[/b]
It was just his second game in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and a debut for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). But Chris Lynn's heroics, first with the bat and then in the field, will live on in the hearts of IPL fans.
The Aussie took a blinder at the boundary in the final over of the game to send back AB de Villiers and deny RCB a win that looked theirs till De villiers was on the crease. In the end, that catch made KKR victorious by just 2 runs. But his first impression on the game was equally stunning: a six off the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan to set himself on his way to scoring 45 off 31 balls. That after Lynn hardly believed his luck seeing his name among the playing XI before the match. Before coming onto the field, Lynn batted with another legend, Jacques Kallis, to share an 80-run partnership that pushed KKR past 150.
It is an unbelievable experience to bat with Jacques Kallis. He is so relaxed at the crease and so unaffected by pressure. He was calm and composed throughout the partnership. He is one of the greatest players and it is pretty cool to see how he goes about his batting. And Lynn finally described how he managed to stun De Villiers.
I felt it was a well-connected shot and it was a tough catch to take at that moment. I would have taken it comfortably had I stayed on my feet, I slipped a bit, but I clutched onto it at the last moment. I tried my best not to touch the boundary ropes and I am happy I could catch that one, he said.
