Change the post's date format

Hi guys,
Somehow i don't like the date format attached with the posts... It just shows the number of hours ago... and after that in weeks. So u don't even get the no. of days when it comes to weeks.

I feel the better way would be to put in date and time...like

dd-mm-yy hh:mm

This way, it becomes more understandable.

I second gaurav's view...we need some clarity on that

yeah . if we have a proper date and time. it would be better. i also think that the site time should be GMT + 530 HRS. rather than GMT TIME.

I find it better the way it is right now ..

Gives a easier view of how old the thread it.

If more people say they are not satisfied with the way it works.. will try to change it :)

Its about the posts, which becomes unclear. Days and weeks dont quite give a clearer picture and i am sure most of the ppl feel like that.

Repeating my request here... Would like to know the opinion of others too in this regard.

We had kept this in hr, days and weeks so the user can see how long before an activity was there.. It a more detailed observation to be updated to specific threads you are following. Though it aint difficult to just count out days for a specific date if you looking for.
IF we keep a date option than the hour option would go that means the post was done on ----dt rather than hving a precise idea of what time..!!

Give it a thought and than do put ur views across

Hey bhavin,
what i meant was that the post can have a time like 20th July 2006, 4:00 P.M.

No complicated calculations required. Moreover, when it comes to weeks, all u get is 1 week, 2 weeks, etc. The precision is lost. Having the date and the time can help u calculate the duration, but not the vice versa (esp when it comes to weeks)

I got your point but i dont see users keeping a track of say a 3 week old post for timing and date at it doesnt make sense.

Though what can be doen if say 10 ppl are in for the same on this thread than the change shall be done on that day.

That's right... but still if u wish to know the date.... Let's say not 3 weeks but after 7-8 days. All get is 1 week ago, not knowing the exact time and date.

Anyway, i leave this matter to the discretion of the admin avoiding further discussion on the same.

Well right gaurav..!!

If i get say arnd 10 people on the same than i would definately change but as of now i believe the format is suffice

Do think can add a poll in the thread? I can't add it now. There can be two options.....

Do u think the format of the date and time of the posts be changed?

a) Yes, it is
better if it is in dd-mm-yy hh:mm

b) No, it is fine.

Well gaurav the poll is up so can start voting.!!

As for Mr Sagar you can also get your vote counted in, though i have a special eye on your posts so do keep a track on what you posting. If i see any spam from you end there is a very good chance that your warning meter will alarm the 100% soon.!
