Coleman Foundation Grant for the Kansas Entrepreneurial Initiative—a program to evaluate intellectual
property for business startups and commercialization, fall 2006. Co-authored with J im Wolff, Derek Ruth
and Hal Pluenneke. Status: Funded, $180,000 over three years.


PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES AND PRESENTATIONS:

College of Engineering, Wichita State University- Mechanical Engineering seminar series presentation
on “Technology Entrepreneurship: From Invention to Venture” Fall 2006

The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) (2003 to present) NIAR fellow with the goal of
establishing the commercialization processes for new basic research discovered by the center’s scientist.
NIAR is supports the aviation industry through some of the following activities including research and
development, education, testing, certification, and technology transfer.

The Hayes Company, Inc. Fellow (2003-present) Developed and implemented an innovation approach
for undergraduate strategy students to interact with a local SME, labeled ‘The Hayes Company, Inc. –
New Product Decathlon’ competition. The competition is a senior-level undergraduate project were
selected students worked closely with senior management and managers of The Hayes Company, Inc. to
explore real world application in context of new product development.

Center of Entrepreneurship – Entrepreneurship Research Associate Program ($3,000 annual
endowment; 2001-2004). Designation as entrepreneur research associate through the Center for
Entrepreneurship to conduct research in the field of entrepreneurship, small and family business.

Boeing Company – Working with top management team (2005) in the evaluating and recommending
course of action for simulations and training for the new (Onex) company’s focus on strategic profit
center initiative. Also consulted, developed, and presented ‘International Business’ lecture series through
the W. Frank Barton School’s Center for Management Development at Boeing Company (2002 to 2004).

Boy Scouts of America – Quivira Council, BSA – Facilitated the Strategic Plan for the Quivira Council’s
2004-2008 Strategic Plans: working with over 70 local business leaders in the development of the
council’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
