can the online shopping replace the real one?

Shopping on the Internet

With the increased use of the Internet, shopping is becoming a truly global experience, with more and more consumers turning to their computers to buy things like software, CDs and books. Like mail order, people appreciate the convenience of not having to walk around the shops, and can browse among a huge choice of goods in their own time.
The Internet is an exciting tool that not only puts vast information at your fingertips but expands your shopping options like never before. Now, with only a few clicks of a mouse, you can go online to buy just about anything you need or want – from airline tickets to rare antiques.
Why Shop Online ? Goods bought online are frequently cheaper, even when allowing for delivery charges and VAT. This is particularly true of goods bought direct from the US, the savings can be up to 50%. No sitting in traffic using your fuel, paying for parking or struggling on public transport. Instant service without having to stand in shop queues. If a site uses all the security measures detailed above you should be able to shop in confidence. In fact it is safer to use secure online shopping than give your credit card details over the telephone or send them by fax, simply because secure online shopping is the only method that actually encrypts your details before they are sent.
Shopping on the Internet is no less safe than shopping in a store or by mail. To help ensure that your online shopping experience is a safe one:
Know who you’re dealing with. Confirm the online seller’s physical address and phone number in case you have questions or problems. Know exactly what you’re buying. Read the seller’s description of the product closely, especially the fine print. Know what it will cost. Factor shipping and handling — along with your needs and budget — into the total cost of the order. Pay by credit or charge card, for maximum consumer protections. Check out the terms of the deal, like refund policies and delivery dates. Print and save records of your online transactions.
In conclusion, shopping online offers lots of benefits that you won’t find shopping in a store or by mail. The Internet is always open — seven days a week, 24 hours a day — and bargains can be numerous online. With a click of a mouse, you can buy an airline ticket, book a hotel, send flowers to a friend, or purchase your favorite fashions. But sizing up your finds on the Internet is a little different from checking out items at the mall.

ya it has started in india but it can't replace the real shopping because of many reasons
1. majority of indians are not computer litrate
2. people feel credit card transactions are quiet risky online it can be hacked
3. people can't bargain online the biggest drawback
4. people can just see the product eg. any dress but can't feel it eg. its fabric or material

not at all. real shopping is much much better than online shopping..
i had a very bad experience with online shopping, so i will never prefer online shopping again

i dont think online shopping can ever "Replace" the real experience because shopping is not just about the merchandise but the experience attached to it , which cannot be generated online

online shopping has grown recntly but it can never replace the real one because of:-
1) in online shopping we dont get to touch or see products in real.
2) in online shopping there may be frauds or misconceptions

Never, esp in these times of Mall Culture. The exp of buying has changed, and then the unescapabable offers. Online Shopping will always hold one back whilst making decision, shud I really buy comes in mind when u r abt to mak pymt, how will the actual product b and how it will b shipped n most imp wht if product is not as we wished, all the trouble to reship it eve if it is offered by the seller.

So real shopping is like real date n online shopping just like online chat or date....

I think online shopping has really a long way to go. People do buy products of trusted brands online.

In India though, online shopping is not very popular because merchants are hardly known or genuine. At present, the answer to the question is NO. But, in near future, it is subject to change.

Online shopping is good for "window" shopping....in the sense that it can give you insights of the product..its good ...the bad and the ugly and also the price ranges and where you can find the best deals. But i personally feel nothing beats the experience of going to the shop armed with all the knowledge you gained from online "window" shopping..or some may call it research and buy the product you want and enjoy it the very same day !!!

sopping is an experiance for people, it gives a kick start to the festive season, n considering the amount of investments to glamorize the shopping experiance, funda called sale i personally feel that would never happen

Hi folks
I believe that online shopping can never substitute the real one becoz we Indians have a knack of checking things personally before buying the same.
Another thing except for branded items, online shopping is a bit risky as the products shipped may not match all the qualities as promised in the portal

Good Day

more people are shopping online, however it woudl not totally replace the real one, since its always nicer to touch things before you buy them.

online shopping makes things easier b ut nothing can replae the essence and he experience of real shopping which people do as a part of weekend entertainment

Well for few products only where the products can be returned if not in confirmation with the advertising n liking. But in general Real thing is real...difficult to replace

Hi All

I have a completely different opinion as the future of the online shopping depends on the future of the globalisation. As if we talk about countries like USA, Brasil, Canada and the other extreme western parts of the world, people generally preffer online shopping coz of their busy schedules. However In Countries like France, UK and the other European countries people are scarred of online shopping as there is a lot of scam going on currently.

It depends as to which way India's global market and culture is going to expand. As we can predict as per the current scenario, there is a space for both kind of culture. Moreover it is people's mindset which leads them to make their decisions considering their security along with convenience.
