Can salary be major factor for employee Satisfaction?

yes you can ask questions about one's salary. but not to all level employees. for some people they mind asking those questions. for some salary factor may not be important and they may like the higher responsibility to be given to them.

no

because the tie has come of overall satisfaction
people leave high paying jobs to do what they want to do

salary can be attractive only initially

I agree. I believe that Salary is important at first but after a significant time and when you are accustomed to the salary the effects run off and the Job itself become more important than the salary.

yes...i think anyone would be highly demotivated if the basic salary decreases by even a small amount and would look to hop for a better paying job..other factors r also important but a decent salary is the basic hygene factor......

Hi everyone...I believe salary is a very important aspect as life is getting more demanding and we have to opt for more and more resources to shoulder those demands. Besides that each individual in the family has different aspirations. So professional success might be a priority for the person working but his accountability and responsibilities towards his family can be only be answered with money and also the defination of success in the current scenario and social setup is more based on the CTC rather than the personal acheivments....

Salary very much determines the employee's satisfaction in an organization..But people gradually started giving due importance for their career growth in the organization.. Major parameters which people do often consider to work in an organization are salary, quality of work and career prospects..

well it has been proved that beyond 15 L the salary is no longer a motivation factor.....
wht u say???

it can't be a source for the top management.......
ffor them its the resposibility and the challenges of the job

it is considered major factor in dealing with employees. salary is main motive in employees mind for 12 hr working or 8 hour shift. all the need in the society deals with money, it is considered the package is important factor..........

I think challenges involved in a job drives the employee to a major extent. Salary can be a factor, its mainly the kind of work u do tht gives u satisfaction.

My thought on the topic:

Salary is indeed a major factor for employee satisfaction but the extent of its importance varies.

Explanation:

For everything that a person does there are factors which motivate him. We classify these factors in two categories as intrinsic and extrinsic:
Intrinsic are those for which the person is motivated internally. These factors are intangibles and usually take effect once the person moves up the hierarchy.
On the other hand, Extrinsic are those which are palpable and can be compared against your peers or counterparts in other companies. Salary, belongs to the this category.

As per the Maslow's hierarchy, we have the tendency to move up the hierarchy and as we move up the needs change. So the extent of salary being a factor for employee satisfaction also depends on which level the person belongs to. The higher the level, the lesser important Salary becomes for him.

I used to think that if the job made me happy then it didnt matter about the salary. Job growth was so important. Now with 2 children, its not only growth and possible potential its my salary that makes me stay. Without the money to do the job, i think why should i do that job.

yes salary definitely plays an important role in employee satisfaction yet i cant say it that way. it is because other basic variables like healthy working conditions, job satisfaction, friendly environment, delegative authority, flexible system of management are some of the important factors which play a major role along with a good compesation package play major role for employee satisfaction.
