Can Business and Ethics go hand in hand ?

Hey Guys,

I know that this one is the most commonly discussed topic and I am sure all of u will have something to share on the same.So please do post your views..

I look forward to have a healthy group discussion with u.

Cheers !!:tea:

Being unethical in business is the art to sustain competition but surely not at the cost of a company's repute, its employees and goodwill.
Business and ethics mays ound different, but ethic is certainly a part of business.
coz sooner or later, da person who breaks the line soon goes out of business (enron is a classic example ) .....

GUYS, M WAITING FOR UR VIEWS ON DIS TOPIC............

if a business wanna be successful then business and ethics should go hand in hand as business is running in society and so all the business activities should be in favour of society and at the same time business has to make profit to survive and to grow more in this competitive society...

when buisness and ethics dont go together there can be diasatrous results..ex: Bhopal gas tragedy, where top authorities just to save few peenies played wid the life's of thousand of innocent ppl..

If we ourselves dnt wnt to do buisness ethically then how would we remove coruption from our society which is very rampant..

I would say business and ethics are parallely synonymous. I havent seen many examples of people who have followed ethics from day 1 of they business and succeded. :tea:
The next argument would be check out NRN or Varghese Kurien, but i would say do you happen to know that they have followed ethics from day 1... Not sure haaa..!! Well if they have done, the are great man but according to me entrepreneurs become more ethical with time. The further they grow horizons they have corporate social responsibilty, which intents growth of the company with the goodwill in the market increasing.
At the initial stage its always how to sustain your goal once that stage is passed people bring ethics within an organisation.

An example would be what indian management thought practices teaches us, it states that when a person is "satvik" he is considered to be at a self realisation stage where he follows ethics in life but at the same time to reach this stage he starts from the initial stage (tamasik or rajasik) which is more of goal oriented. It only considers the end results and not the way to achieve the end results.!!

ethics are only helpful unless and untill we are not incurring any loss because of the. so, business and ethics can go hand in haND upto a limit where the business is in profit

to survive in a business u have to be politically ethical not by virtue ........ none of the business firms can claim to be totally ethical........ and the CSR that firms do its for its personal benefit (image improvement and brand recognition)

no one is concerned about ethics....and if firms show sum concern then it is a marketing tool like CSR for building of image........businessmen are concered with profits be it by any means

just follow the laid down code of ethics defined. thats the way that business and ethincs can go hand in hand. The enforcement may have to be strict. people may not willingly follow ethics within business

we can take an example of movie guru here. we all know that it was based on life of a person, and we also know who that person is. in that movie, its clearly shown that if he acts ethical, then he would not have been able to run his business. so ethics for him were to get the work done in anyway. same applies to every business, because ultimate aim of a business is to fulfill the needs of its stakeholders..

as we r living in a modern era and there is a high level of competition.each and every company wants a profit but as a customers are more aware in these days companies can't cheat anyone so for the running of a good business a company must also consider ethics in their business.therefore business and ethics go hand in hand.............

Yes. But you have to define business ethics as a different subject altogether. I can not go by generic subject of ethics, which generally doesn't get followed in day to day life even

hey guyz........

sorry to say but i do believe in business & ethics go hand in hand bcoz unless & until u do ur business with ethics ur business could not reach to common ppl & it wont be successful. here i would like to quote an example -

Earlier Coca Cola got involved in controversies like fertilizers finding in cold drink bottles & reduction in water level where their plant is located. bcoz of this the company got bad publicity & lost its image. & it ultimately resulted in reduced sales. then company started realising it & it started campaign called "little tears of joy" under this campaign they started helping ppl who r handicap & started offerin them job which they can complete. as a result company manage to regain its image & successfully changed ppl's view towards company. so ultimately ethics matters ..........

some of u might feeel dat dis could b an example of SCR & y m quoting it here but wt i think is this is related to ethics .......................

& hence business & ethics should go hand in hand its necessity of businesssssssssss

Hey its one of my favourite topic of discussion...n i always love to take d side of ETHICS......its definitely sure that BUSINESS n ETHICS has 2 go hand in hand widout which ne business cant survive.....many ppl say being ethical in business does not earn d better result after all business is meant to make maximum profit.....4m my point i would just state a single quote.."IF U STEAL SUMTHIN SMALL U R A THEIF BUT IF U STEAL ON A LARGE SCALE DEN U R AN INDUSTRIALIST"....

dont follow business ethics and you end up being labelled as a fraud ... u loose ur good reputation and also effect the company's goodwill... neways india dosent need entrepruneuers like raju ramalinga..... .......

Yes its a matter of corporate governace for which the ethics have to be maintained to get a fair deal and success in the business.
