Business Intelligence Metadata Analyzer (BIMA)
Introduction
The effort involved in understanding an existing BI
environment for the purpose of product upgrade, product
migration, object consolidation or impact analysis is
generally performed manually and considerable amount of
time and effort is spent. All the BI products are rich in
metadata and provide API for accessing them. By leveraging
the metadata of BI products and automating the analysis
process would eliminate the manual process, save cost and
also improve the accuracy of analysis.
Business Intelligence Metadata Analyzer (BIMA), is a
framework developed by Hexaware for the analysis of
metadata in a BI environment.
The framework consists of two layers
• Metadata Collection Layer, which has components
specific to a BI tool for metadata extraction
• Metadata Analysis Layer, which has components that
enable analysis of the collected metadata
Features
• Metadata Collection layer built on product specific APIs
• Pre-defined Metadata Analysis reports like Duplicate
Analysis, Set Analysis, Impact Analysis etc
• Provides details on the Object to Physical database
mapping
• Extendable to any BI application that has open metadata

(Business Intelligence Metadata Analyzer) during analysis
