PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Business Intelligence Data Architect is a technical expert responsible for the technical design and
development of Bond University’s business intelligence (BI) capability. The successful candidate will utilise
their experience in designing and building BI environments and work with various departments throughout
Bond University to ensure desired short term business reporting and analytical outcomes are delivered, whilst
progressively working towards longer term development of Bond’s business intelligence and data warehousing
capabilities.
The incumbent will form part of the Information & Planning Data Analytics team, and will work closely with
Information Technology Services staff to design, implement and support solutions whilst collaborating with key
stakeholders throughout the University.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. Relevant postgraduate qualifications and/or extensive relevant experience
2. Experience developing and building an enterprise-wide business intelligence environment and/or
experience using IBM Cognos and TM1
3. Demonstrated significant experience with data marts, data warehouses and large scale database
technologies, including design, development and implementation
4. Demonstrated experience in the modelling of data within large scale heterogeneous systems
5. Demonstrated significant experience of ETL processes, including amalgamation and integration of
data from various heterogeneous relational database sources (Oracle, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, etc.)
6. Demonstrated experience with BI reporting technologies/tools and the implementation of dynamic
reporting outputs for senior executive, key stakeholders and the broader organisation.
7. A results orientation and capacity as a “hands on” practitioner and a catalyst for change in a
consultative, service delivery environment.
8. Excellent communication, representation, negotiation and interpersonal skills, including: the ability to
engage with senior executives and all members of staff across a large organisation; and the ability
and willingness to provide specialist support and mentorship for colleagues.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

9. Experience working in the higher education sector, or demonstrated understanding of the challenges
of applying BI/Data warehouse techniques to the higher education sector
10. Knowledge of Australian and international higher education and institutional research processes,
statistics, information and policies.
