Recently, there was a survey that talked about the no.of hrs employees are spending on social media sites like Facebook, orkut,Twitter etc. That was whooping 1 hr everyday which was a serious productivity loss for the company. When employee spend 1 hr everyday in social media it was a huge loss for the companies interms of the work and bandwidth being wasted for entertainment purposes.Social communities dont add any value either to the company or to the person logged-in.

So,should we block social media during office time and increase productivity?

No, the persons in the social media are the friends of the person logged in. You can ask help to your friends when your in a critical position. Some people used to have their boss and colleague in their friends list and get connected to them continously.

So there is no need to ban such sites since the case is not like that of SEC officers watching porn for several hours when financial crisis was unfolding.

Well I m with banning the social media in offices, its a serious issue which lead to a lot of work hour loss ,which affects the economy....if ne one really requires networkin,he can go for it out of the office,,,not in the office....
