BIMTECH-International Conference on Management Cases

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) in association with The School of Public Policy, George Mason University, Arlington,Virginia, USA inaugurated International Conference on Management Cases (ICMC) - 2011 on 01/ December/ 2011. It is a two days conference discussing research/teaching cases on various facets of management. These were based on primary and secondary data, scholarship, field studies, empirical data, or significant experience of learning.

There were paper presentations done by various, research scholars, consultants, professionals, civil servants, self employed entrepreneurs, and social activists. The cases were in variety of nature of various topics Accounting & Finance, Corporate Governance, Societal expectations, Financial inclusions, Comparative studies (industry sectors, products, locations, geographic, demographic), diasporic communities and ethnic minority groups, entrepreneurship, globalization, developing economies, human resource management, organization development, knowledge management, management interventions or organization experiences, management science, management decision making, marketing, NGO & NPO, operations & logistics, supply chain management, public sector management, strategy, appreciative intelligence, technology marketing, tourism and hospitality.

The conference was inaugurated in Indian style with a Saraswati Vandana and lighting of the holy lamp. Present on the stage were present Mr. A.C. Chaturvedi, Mr. Sugata Ghosh, Mr. Tojo Thatchenkery, Mr. G.D.Sardana, and Dr. H.Chaturvedi as co-chairpersons for the conference. Dr. H.Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH welcomed the chief guest Mr. A.C. Chaturvedi, CKO, NTPC and other guests from various locations of the world. In his welcome address Dr. Chaturvedi said that there are two different India living on the same land, India & Bharat, to connote the urban and rural India. He said that the effluent live in India and poor live in Bharat. He expressed a hope that the management cases discussed during the conference might provide a solution to bridge a gap between India and Bharat. Prof. G.D.Sardana, co- chairperson of the ICMC-2011 Conference, briefed everyone in the audience about the conference.

The Guest of Honor, Mr. Sugata Ghosh talked about how duplicate books are affecting the publishing business. Mr. A.C.Chaturvedi talked on the importance of management cases for students and the faculty. Mr. Tojo Thatchenkery, Professor, George Mason University and Co-chairperson ICMC-2011 conveyed the vote of thanks. At the end of the inaugural ceremony two books were released, one based on Sustainability & the other onPositive Thinking.
