BCOM V/S BMS - Esha Shah (N M COLLEGE)

BCOM V/S BMS - Esha Shah (N M COLLEGE)

College life ehh well all of us await for these five golden years of our life that actually helps us in moulding our overall personality…The friends v make, our education as well so many things , college life indeed gives us the liberty to change our overall spectrum..

Today after being a graduate from Narsee Monjee College , I feel at the peak the world…Its not just about the goodwill the college has built upon since so many years , but there is a different aura about NM altogether…The college which is considered to be the pioneer amongst all the other commerce institutions in Mumbai , has got the best of professors , education system, its canteen (that’s surely the most visited place by students ) as well not to forget the magnificent library of the college which gives u a feel of studying abroad…once u enter NM library,u would surely not amis studying abroad..And if I m talking about NM , I have to mention the most awaited festival of NM i.e. UMANG. Ofcourse Umang , the festival that has evolved so largely in this years and has gained tremendous fame and acknowledgement from its patrons, nation over ,that come all the way along to participate in this college fest.. Umang is all about encouraging youths every year and persuading them to come out with their powerful hidden talents..Not forgetting, it largely owes to building leadership qualities and offers the students , the challenge to manage the whole fest largely by themselves , right from arranging the sponsors to making the fest a huge event…To cut short ,UMANG has purely inculcated the values of team spirit , leadership , management amongst the students.

As far as if I talk about distinguishing bcom students from bms students, people have this notion that bms students have a far more pleasant personality and can prove to be good at their managerial , entrepreneurial as well their communication skills.
Firstly , I would like to talk about bms students..With their curricular academics and syllabus , they aquire a strong grasp on management studies precisely…Since their syllabus counts for immense projects , assignments , and industrial visits all round the year ,it plays a vital role in shaping a students personality. Not only they get an exposure to communicate with the outer world as well amongst themselves..It just helps them in knowing their colleagues better and working with them wholly as a team which gives them the ability to work with varied people and thereby , accepting the others limitations as well as learning to accept something worthwhile from each other...
Its certainly not that bms students are far well versed or possess a pleasant personality than bcom grads. Its about the way an individual is moulded..Even a bcom student can take up the same managerial assignments more willingly and confidently than a bms student , if he/she has been moulded in that respective way..
The one drawback with bcom grads . is that , they have never got the exposure to outer world and that’s where they are laid behind…Due to this , most of bcom students tend to be a little shy or introvert by nature because our syllabus has never given them the opportunity to exploit their potentials wholly…Consequently , they face problems while going for interviews or while handling presentations in their respective companies. We have the crème of students who are highly brilliant but whats the use , if they get their lips sealed when they have to expose themselves in front of their seniors…

I m not distinguishing bcom with bms grads., all I am saying is that bms students generally tend to be more extrovert and good communicators due to the exposure they have been provided with .Similarly , a bcom grad . may even outwit a bms grad…Its not the question of bcom v/s bms , but its all about how an individual is moulded in his years of development. Its upon how you take up the challenge to out show your abilities. If you have the necessary confidence , the required knowledge of your field and the extroversion as well as the managerial ,leadership abilities amongst you , why will it ever matter whether you are a bcom or a bms grad..

Today also there are many bcom students who even fear to talk in public. They feel shy. They feel inferior as compared to other graduates that our nation produces. The question over here is a simple why ?? Why don’t they have that spark of confidence in them..Why do they hesitate or even stammer when put between a cluster of students with varied educational background…And the only answer to this is the lack of exposure…The only concentration in bcom syllabus is on academics , theoretical subjects ignoring the overall practicality…Just a few assignments here and there in the whole five generous years of learning in the college..Then how is a student going to polish his overall personality…How is a student going to overcome his stage fear..All he needs is a push up from the institution right from beginning to learn to have the courage to face this veracious world right , without a mere lack of fear and hesitation…

Lastly to conclude , every student is special in his /her own way…He doesn’t need to be an IIM MBA or an IIT engineer to prove his worth..Even a bcom or bms grad. can shine and occupy the most crème , desirable position and outstand others in the market , given the necessary confidence , wit , dedication , determination , and the willingness to prove even you are somebody and you very well deserve to sustain in this selfish , competitive corporate world….
